Casting: Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, John Rhys-Davies, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, Andy Serkis, Miranda Otto.
The magnificent conclusion of the Battle for Middle-earth unfolds against the backdrop of open confrontation between the peaceful peoples – hobbits, men, elves, and dwarves – and the Dark Lord Sauron. While warriors fight at the front, Frodo, the keeper of the One Ring, along with his faithful companion and friend Sam, accompanied by a creature named Gollum, strives to deliver the ring to the crater of Mount Doom to forever free Middle-earth from Sauron's power.
The conclusion of the trilogy, released in 2003 and directed by Peter Jackson, became an unprecedented success: the film won all 11 Oscars for which it was nominated, including the main award for Best Picture – an extremely rare occurrence for the fantasy genre. Only two films in this genre have won the Oscar's top prize: The Return of the King and Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water, which won the award in 2017 (though The Shape of Water is only partially fantasy, thanks to its sci-fi elements). Jackson didn't just adapt Tolkien's work - he elevated it to the level of modern mythology and opened the world of Middle-earth to millions of viewers around the globe.

A hired killer known as the Black Mamba was assassinated by her employer, Bill, who decided to kill her right at her wedding. After four years in a coma, she awakens and decides to take revenge, setting out to find those who ruined her life and exacting vengeance on each of them.
The film was originally planned as a single piece, but due to its considerable length, the creators decided to split it into two parts. This decision had a positive impact on both the financial results and the artistic perception of the work. Quentin Tarantino constructs his narrative like a cinematic mosaic: plot lines are scattered across different time periods, dialogue is filled with pop culture references, and action scenes are not just fights, but real rituals where every move is carefully thought out.

Joel is a person prone to solitude and dreams, while Clementine is an energetic and hot-tempered rebel. Despite the fact that their relationship was full of tenderness, the reality turned out to be far from ideal: conflicts became more and more frequent, grievances accumulated, and fatigue from each other increased. After the final separation, Clementine decides to contact the Lacuna company to get rid of all memories associated with Joel. Upon learning of her actions, he, in a fit of rage, decides to do the same. However, as technology gradually erases his memories in reverse, Joel begins to resist: not only the mistakes made in their relationship but also the sincere moments of intimacy resurface in his mind.
Charlie Kaufman, known for his absurdist comedies, won an Oscar for the film's screenplay, along with director Michel Gondry and screenwriter Pierre Bismuth. Most of the visual effects, including the memory fading effect, were achieved without the use of CGI. Instead, the team used scale models, hand-crafted frame-by-frame processing, mirror distortions, and shooting on old film with intentional damage to individual frames. Thanks to this, the film continues to look original and exciting.

Wladyslaw Szpilman, a gifted pianist of Jewish origin, works at a radio station in Warsaw when German bombs begin to fall over the city in 1939. He and his family end up in the ghetto, where he gradually loses everything - his property, freedom, and loved ones. After his family is deported to a concentration camp, Wladyslaw manages to escape. For the next several years, he lives in hiding: first in abandoned apartments, then among the ruins of a devastated city.
Directed by Roman Polanski, the film draws inspiration from the autobiographical work of Władysław Szpilman, a Polish-Jewish pianist and Holocaust survivor. Polanski, who was born and raised in the Krakow Ghetto and lost his mother in Auschwitz, chose not to accept a fee for his work on the film. Adrien Brody, who plays Szpilman, lost approximately 14 kilograms (30 pounds) for the role, spent a month in seclusion learning the piano, and even met Szpilman himself. As a result, his efforts were recognized with the prestigious Academy Award for Outstanding Actor.

Director: Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
The film stars Audrey Tautou, Mathieu Kassovitz, Rufus, Lorella Cravotta and Serge Merlin.
Amélie Poulain is a reserved dreamer who works as a waitress in a cute Parisian bistro. She finds inspiration in simple things: the crispy crust of crème brûlée, the joy of jumping in puddles, or the play of light on the walls. However, everything changes when she discovers a tin box filled with childhood treasures—photos, toys, and notes—in an old recess of her bathroom. After Amélie manages to find the owner of this find, she secretly returns it, and at that moment, a desire for good deeds awakens within her. From that moment on, she begins to subtly make changes in the lives of those around her, but she herself continues to hesitate and hesitate to follow her dream. Many scenes in the film draw inspiration from real events involving friends and family of director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, as well as from his own memories. A significant factor in the film's popularity was the music written by French composer Yann Tiersen. His melancholic and playful melodies on accordion, piano, and violin not only brought him international acclaim but also created a unique and memorable soundscape for the film.

Thriller, drama, and detective are three interconnected genres that often intersect and complement each other. Thrillers immerse viewers in tense situations and create an atmosphere of suspense, where every action can be decisive. Dramatic elements add depth to characters and their internal conflicts, allowing for a better understanding of their motivations and feelings. Detective stories, in turn, introduce mysteries and investigations, creating intrigue and encouraging viewers to solve the mysteries along with the characters. These genres come together to form gripping stories that keep the audience on the edge of their seats and make them care about the characters' fates.

Director: David Lynch
Starring: Naomi Watts, Laura Harring, Justin Theroux, Ann Miller, Mark Pellegrino.
A naive and optimistic girl from the provinces named Betty arrives in Los Angeles, full of hopes for a brilliant career in the film industry. After moving into the apartment of her aunt, who has moved out, she is met with an unexpected discovery: a strange woman who cannot remember anything except the street name Mulholland Drive. This mysterious person has only a substantial amount of cash and a strange blue key that seems to be connected to something very important. Betty decides to help and, together with the stranger, begins an investigation, delving into the secrets of her past.
David Lynch originally planned "Mulholland Drive" as a pilot for the ABC network, but after the project was canceled, he reconsidered his ideas. The director added new scenes and combined everything into a single, multi-layered feature-length film. The film's unusual structure is not a coincidence, but a deliberate artistic device that captures the essence of dreams and repressed aspirations. The work earned Lynch the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival and an Oscar nomination for Best Director, cementing his place as one of the leading innovators in world cinema.

In the Mood for Love is often considered part of an unofficial trilogy, which also includes Chungking Express and 2046. The connection between these films is not so much plot-based as conceptual: they all touch on the themes of understatement, the rapid passage of time, and unattainable closeness between people.

High school student Donnie Darko's fate changes dramatically the night he encounters a mysterious figure in a terrifying bunny suit named Frank. This character warns him that the end of the world will come in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds, after which he begins giving Donnie unusual, almost prophetic instructions. This collision sets off a chain of events that leads to inevitable disaster.
Donnie Darko was the first film by 26-year-old Richard Kelly, and it initially went virtually unnoticed: its limited theatrical release, lukewarm critical reviews, and financial setbacks did not bode well for its success. However, its release on DVD and VHS in 2002 gave the film a renewed impetus, and the director's extended version, released in 2004, only heightened interest. Viewers began to rewatch the film many times, exploring hidden subtexts, quoting memorable phrases and discussing theories: who is Frank, did Donnie really manage to prevent the apocalypse and who are the manipulators.

In 2027, humanity has effectively reached the point of stagnation: for the past eighteen years, not a single new person has appeared on the planet. States are disintegrating, and migrants are fleeing the chaos. Great Britain is becoming one of the last "bastions of stability", fenced off from the rest of the world. Theo Faron, once an active fighter, now an indifferent official, has lost faith in the existing system. His pessimism begins to crumble when he is captured by a group of rebels, who demand that he complete a mission that could be the last hope for salvation for all of humanity. Directed by Alfonso Cuarón, the film is a loose adaptation of the novel of the same name by British author Phyllis Dorothy James. While the film retains the general context and the names of the main characters, the plot, mood, and political undertones have been completely reworked. The director decided to abandon the detective element of the original, emphasizing a dark dystopia. This work was enthusiastically received by critics and took a significant place among the most notable works of the science fiction genre in the 2000s.
