How to Use Bash Scripts

I use the terminal every day to perform a variety of tasks. When writing tutorials on programming languages, I often need to perform the same actions. This repetition makes the process difficult and time-consuming. Streamlining these tasks can significantly increase my productivity and make it easier to create high-quality content.

At first glance, performing various tasks seems like a small amount of time. However, throughout the day, these small time investments accumulate and can amount to several tens of minutes. These minutes can be used for more productive activities, which will significantly increase the efficiency of your time. Streamlining your daily activities will allow you to free up time for your most important tasks and personal development.

To automate repetitive tasks, I'm developing a script that will save me time and effort. To do this, I need to create a .sh file and add the necessary commands to it.

Then I need to place this file in the source code directory and grant it executable permissions. This can be done through the file properties by changing the appropriate settings.

This method is not the most convenient, as it requires opening the file manager, finding the desired file, opening its properties and performing other actions. It is much easier and faster to perform these operations through the terminal, using the appropriate command.

After this, you need to run the script.

To increase the functionality of the script, it is advisable to use variables, which are denoted by the dollar sign ($). This will allow you to store and process data more efficiently, as well as facilitate the management of values ​​​​in the code. By using variables, you can dynamically change data, making your script more adaptable and versatile. Using variables not only simplifies the code structure but also improves its readability and maintainability.

Now let's specify the name of the file to be compiled and run using this script.

The script has become a universal tool that can be easily copied to the required folders. It can also be added to the PATH variable, which contains paths to executable files. By including the path to the folder with the script in the PATH, you can call it from anywhere in the system. To do this, open the ~/.bashrc file and add the following command to the end:
