Georgy Traugot: The Art of Painting and Graphics

Georgy Traugot, a Leningrad landscape artist who lived from 1903 to 1961, was a key figure among the intelligentsia of the first half of the 20th century. His home hosted meetings of prominent artists and philosophers, including such figures as Vladimir Sterligov, Tatyana Glebova, and Yakov Druskin, who played a key role in preserving the Kharms archive. Traugott himself created rich landscapes, including those inspired by the events of the siege, drawing ideas from Russian icon painting and the tradition of fresco painting.

It's worth visiting this exhibition to see the sketch of Mayakovskaya station, which won the Grand Prix at the 1939 New York World's Fair, as well as Boris Iofan's designs, which remained only on paper, and various options for replacing the medallion with Stalin's image.

Bobbin lace, made from copper wire and metal, is embodied in the works of Artem Lyalin. His pieces, although fragile in appearance, possess considerable stability. A home against the backdrop of the evening sun and a flowering meadow

Masha Egorova's exhibition, permeated with light and tenderness, immerses viewers in the world of home, which personifies childhood and serves as a safe haven. The artist creates ceramic objects such as vases, bowls, and boxes, and also experiments with felt rugs. For this exhibition, she constructed a translucent tent, which adds a special charm. In her works, presented in the "Mokh" space, branches and shoots are visible, creating the atmosphere of a secluded corner in the yard, where a nine-year-old child can hide without running for water, because his mother can call him back home.

Heroes of Their Time

Valery Plotnikov is a master of photography who captured such celebrities as Vladimir Vysotsky, Inna Churikova, and Oleg Tabakov, as well as Joseph Brodsky and Alisa Freundlich. Almost the entire creative elite of the Soviet Union was in his circle of friends. He recalls Helmut Newton, but talks about his own working conditions: "Ultimately, what kind of studio did I have? Most of the pictures were taken in the kitchen, with its characteristic black-and-white checkered tiled floor, which belonged to my wife, Irochka Sobinova-Kassil. She was the granddaughter of the famous tenor and the daughter of the writer Lev Kassil, and the kitchen itself was in the old apartment of Leonid Vitalyevich Sobinov, located on Kamergersky Lane."
