This year's Cosmoscow 2025 contemporary art fair was impressive in scale. The spacious two-story space brought together 97 galleries and 120 stands, presenting projects from various countries and cities. The Futuro gallery was recognized as the "Best Stand," presenting Leonid Kostin's monochrome objects imitating icon-painting boards. We were particularly impressed by the following aspects of the exhibition:

Dima Rebus at the Artwin Gallery booth

The artist creates mesmerizing watercolors using a unique method of freezing water with pigment and allowing it to gradually melt on paper. His friends and family collect water samples from various sources, such as rivers, pools, and raindrop reservoirs. Each drop has its own story, and the artist records the date, time, and pH level, adding depth and context to his work. The result is light and melancholic paintings of frozen swimmers that metaphorically reflect emigrant life and a variety of other themes. These watercolors are not only aesthetically pleasing but also imbued with meaning, prompting viewers to reflect on nature, time, and the human experience.

Igor Gurovich and Yuri Gordon at the HSE booth

HSE Art Gallery is inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement of 19th-century England, when artists and designers, rebelling against industrialization and mechanization, began to value handcraft. This return to roots is particularly intriguing. Particularly striking are the carpets created by Igor Gurovich and Yuri Gordon in collaboration with Concept Carpet Lab, which explore the concept of digital silence. Their works reflect the uniqueness and depth of handicrafts, emphasizing the importance of traditional skills in contemporary art.

Viktor Sachivko and Igor Tishin at the Peace Square stand

The Krasnoyarsk Museum Center "Peace Square" was recognized as Museum of the Year and presented the works of artists Viktor Sachivko and Igor Tishin at the Cosmoscow exhibition. Sachivko's work includes complex abstract compositions reflecting "set theories," while Tishin displays figurative portraits inspired by pop culture. These works together represent a profound intellectual reflection on contemporary art and its place in society.

Patrons of the Arts: The Influence of Women on Great Art

Women in the arts play a vital role in supporting and developing the arts. Their contribution to culture and creativity often remains in the shadows, but it is thanks to patrons of the arts that many artists, musicians, and writers have been able to realize their ideas.

Historically, patronage was considered the prerogative of men, but women, despite the limitations of their time, have become true patrons of the arts. They not only financed projects but also actively participated in cultural life, organizing exhibitions, concerts, and literary evenings.

Patrons of the arts inspired artists and helped them create masterpieces, providing the necessary financial support. Their influence can be traced across various artistic fields, from painting to literature. In the modern world, patronage continues to evolve, and women continue to make significant contributions to cultural heritage.

Women's support for the arts is not only an important part of history but also a relevant topic for discussion in the context of contemporary trends. Patrons not only preserve cultural heritage but also create a platform for new talent, thereby promoting diversity and innovation in the arts.

Provmyza Art Group

Provmyza Art Group was awarded the title of "Artist of the Year" at the Cosmoscow 2025 exhibition. Everyone is talking about the monumental performative sculpture depicting the intertwined bodies of a mother and children in Ushatáva dresses, but the question of who is the donor and who is the recipient in this work remains a subject of active debate.

Vasvo x Vasvo at the stand "India: How the Spirit Acquires Matter"

The curatorial selection of collectors Ekaterina and Andrey Terebenin became the basis for a unique project, in which the Indian galleries Threshold, Espace and Mango Tree Craft took part & Design. Each element of the collection demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship, meticulous execution, attention to detail, and a profound respect for materials. This project highlights the importance of art and craft, as well as their ability to create unique objects that reflect culture and tradition.

The works of artist Waswo X. Waswo are captivating in their uniqueness. This poet and photographer, based in Udaipur, Rajasthan, creates images in which he appears as a comic character, intruding into the everyday lives of Indians. His miniatures convey the atmosphere of traditional Indian culture, while adding elements of irony and self-criticism. Each of the author's works demonstrates his ability to combine art and personal experiences, which makes his work especially attractive to viewers.
