WYSIWYG editors, which stands for "What You See Is What You Get," are tools that allow you to create websites and applications without the need for programming. Users can combine ready-made elements and blocks, observing the result in real time. These editors are ideal for designers who want to implement their projects from start to finish, without interacting with programmers.

Our list features seven free WYSIWYG editors that offer convenient features:

  • Tilda is a platform that offers a variety of templates.
  • Readymag is a universal editor based on the use of widgets.
  • Webflow is suitable for those already familiar with Figma.
  • Bubble is a tool designed for both online stores and social networks.
  • Webnode is suitable for creating operational landing pages and business card sites.
  • Jimdo is suitable for creating simple one-page sites using ready-made templates.
  • Mobirise is ideal if your interest is focused exclusively on creating a mobile version of the website.

Tilda

This website builder is one of the most popular in Russia. It offers users extensive design options using ready-made standard blocks. In addition, the Zero Block mode is available, which allows you to independently place elements on an empty canvas, similar to how it is done in Figma.

Advantages. The WYSIWYG editor offers a wide selection of ready-made blocks and website templates, including both standard and Zero Blocks. The workflow can be easily customized for mobile devices, and animation can be integrated. The editor also features a built-in CRM system.

Disadvantages: Editing options for standard blocks are quite limited and limited to minor changes. Multi-page websites are not available in the ready-made template selection; only landing pages are available. Even Zero Blocks have certain limitations regarding element placement and animation.

The free version allows users to create a single WYSIWYG website. The maximum number of pages is 50, and the total size of uploaded files is limited to 50 MB. However, not all ready-made modules are available with the basic plan—for example, contact forms are paid. The ability to connect a custom domain and integrate with external services is only available with paid subscriptions.

Subscriptions start at 500 rubles per month. Users can take advantage of a two-week trial period.

Readymag

Working with the WYSIWYG editor focuses on integrating various widgets, such as text blocks, buttons, shapes, images, maps, and forms. Comparing Readymag and Tilda, it can be noted that Readymag offers greater flexibility - there are fewer pre-installed templates, but significantly more options for individual page customization.

Pros. The designer has a significant degree of freedom: they can customize the grid, place elements anywhere, and animate them as they see fit. This opens up opportunities to create designs that are in no way inferior to traditional websites.

Disadvantages. The number of ready-made WYSIWYG templates is limited. The workflow is not as simple as in Tilda, since responsive versions must be configured manually from scratch. The platform does not have its own CRM, and integrations are paid, making it impossible to collect user data without a subscription.

The free version allows you to work with multiple projects, but you can only publish one of them, and using your own domain is not possible.

Subscription prices start at $36 per month.

Webflow

A WYSIWYG editor ideal for developing websites from scratch. Users are offered only 40 free templates, while the number of paid ones is significantly larger. However, the main feature of Webflow is the ability to create a unique design, and its interface is reminiscent of Figma.

The advantages of using this platform are the ability to individually customize the grid, customize various elements and add animation effects. For large projects, it's especially convenient to automatically update component styles across all pages, something missing from Tilda and Readymag. Responsive versions in the WYSIWYG editor are configured automatically, but they can also be modified manually if desired.

Disadvantages. Using all of Webflow's features without a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS can be difficult: while hand coding is not required, understanding the structure of elements is very helpful.

The free version allows users to create two websites without a subscription, with the uploaded content size limited to 50 MB. However, it's worth noting that there are no integration features, and the toolset has certain limitations. However, an option for collecting user feedback is available—up to 500 form submissions per month.

Subscription prices start at $23 per month.

Bubble

Bubble is a highly advanced WYSIWYG editor specifically designed for creating websites with complex logic and extensive databases. It can be used to create both a marketplace and a social network, as well as a mobile app version using the Web View feature. The process of working in Bubble is divided into several stages: first, you need to place all the required elements on the page, and then you should configure their functionality.

Pros. The site can be easily adapted - from a trial version to a full-fledged service. User data storage and account management are available. The platform automatically translates content into eighty languages. Numerous plugins are also available that add missing features, such as the ability to create animations during page load.

Disadvantages: The WYSIWYG editor interface may not be the most user-friendly, and configuring responsive versions requires considerable effort. If you need to create a standard landing page, Tilda is the best choice.

The free version offers unlimited projects, but users can only use basic tools. File storage is also limited to 500 MB. Free plugins are also available in this version. Using your own domain is only possible with a subscription.

Subscription prices start at $29 per month.

Webnode

A user-friendly WYSIWYG builder with ready-made templates designed for developing business card websites, landing pages, and online stores. It can be used from both a desktop computer and a smartphone.

Advantages. User-friendly interface and an extensive collection of templates, organized in an accessible catalog depending on the purpose of the site. Integrations with payment systems and analytics tools are available. Multilingual website creation is also possible.

Disadvantages. Due to the system's limitations, website development is only possible using existing templates. Users can insert their own images, apply filters, change colors, and add animation, but that's where the customization options end. Even text formatting uses preset styles, which prevents customization of parameters such as color, size, or font.

The free version of this WYSIWYG service offers users a limited set of tools and 100 MB of image storage. However, it is possible to create an unlimited number of websites.

Subscription prices start at $4 per month.

Jimdo

Before you start using the WYSIWYG editor, artificial intelligence will help you. You need to choose a website theme from an extensive list, decide on a theme that suits your mood, a color palette, and the necessary blocks. In the future, you will be able to edit existing elements and add new blocks.

Jimdo InterfaceScreenshot: Jimdo / Skillbox Media website

Pros. Easy-to-use editor that allows you to quickly develop landing pages and business card sites.

Disadvantages. Registration from Russia will be unavailable. It may also turn out that some functionality is missing. For example, you can't create product categories or embed a calendar—you'll need to write special code to do so.

The free version of the WYSIWYG service allows users to create an unlimited number of websites, each containing up to five pages. Basic tools are included, along with 500 MB of storage. Projects can be published on the Jimdo subdomain.

Subscription prices start at 350 rubles per month.
