Tasks and Goals of a Logo Creation Project

Creating a modern logo and guidelines for a company's visual identity is based on several important aspects. First, it is necessary to consider the target audience and their preferences so that the logo reflects the brand's values and mission. Second, an important step is to research the competitive environment, which allows you to highlight the brand's unique features. You should also pay attention to the color palette and fonts, which should be harmoniously combined and support the overall concept of the visual style. Furthermore, creating guidelines includes developing rules for logo use, which ensures its proper perception in various environments. All these elements contribute to the formation of a strong visual identity that distinguishes the brand in the market.

  • Creating unique content for Instagram, as this is the main channel for interacting with the target audience and attracting new clients.
  • Developing original presentations for training courses and events.
  • Design of training certificates and diplomas for graduates.

The founders intend to redesign the product pages on the website and update the training rooms. These changes are aimed at creating a higher-quality user experience, which in turn can increase customer satisfaction and improve interaction with the content.

Before starting concept development, we conduct a thorough briefing to better understand the client's vision and expectations regarding the corporate identity. In the project for the "Academy of Art Therapy", a key aspect was conveying the new status of the institution, representing a space that combines deep knowledge, modern approaches, and practical experience. The founders emphasized that the style should reflect the creative focus of the Academy, but without excessive expressiveness. For example, paint splashes were excluded as a decorative element to maintain the institution's professional and sophisticated image. Thus, we strive to create a visual style that will highlight the uniqueness and values of the Art Therapy Academy.

Stage 1: Defining Key Images for the Logo

During the logo concept discussion, the founders of the Art Therapy Academy identified three key themes that formed the basis of our creative approach. These themes reflect the academy's philosophy and values, contributing to the creation of a unique visual identity that will effectively convey our mission and ideas. The logo will symbolize art, therapy, and professionalism, uniting these elements in a single design.

  • an illustrative sign, possibly in the form of a coat of arms;
  • a font logo;
  • a dynamic logo that can change depending on the context.

The next stage involved research and selection of ideas that could highlight the uniqueness of the Academy. Logos containing associative symbols, silhouette abbreviations, adaptive backgrounds, and fonts with narrow, tall, and sometimes deformed letters were used as inspiration. Such elements will help create a memorable and original visual style that will reflect the philosophy and values of the Academy.

When developing the identity, we drew inspiration from one of the classes at the Academy, where students create random lines of different colors, reflecting their feelings and emotions. Initially, brushstrokes were associated with creativity, but we realized that this solution was too banal and predictable. Therefore, we decided to focus on more original interpretations and found that smooth and generalized lines better suited our goals than naturalistic brushstrokes or textured strokes. This allowed us to create a unique visual language that reflects a modern approach to design, combining simplicity and expressiveness.

Creating a unique logo for the Academy of Art Therapy

In the process of creating the logo, we focused on reflecting the updated identity of the Academy, emphasizing its scientific approach to education and close connection with art and creativity. The client was offered four unique logo concepts, which they could evaluate simultaneously, which allowed them to choose the most suitable option.

The first concept includes a coat of arms, which vividly symbolizes sustainability and tradition. We used still life elements, such as a jug, pear, vase, and flower, which effectively reflect the client's field of activity. This idea was highly appreciated by the client.

The second concept of the logo includes three-dimensional letters "A" and "T", which gives the design dynamism and the ability to change the background image. This option preserves the brand identity and is perceived as a single whole. The client noted that the logo evokes associations with Soviet architecture, giving it a monumental appearance. This design approach creates a lasting image that is easy to remember and associated with the brand's reliability and strength.

The third concept includes the letters "A" and "T", which symbolize art therapy, with a pencil motif. The letter 'A' has been interpreted as the tip of a pencil, emphasizing the importance of the creative process. Initially, the idea aroused interest among clients, but during the discussion they decided to exclude the direct association with the word “art therapy”.

The fourth concept is a combined logo with italic letters “A” and “T”. This option proved most appealing to clients due to its elegance, simplicity, and modern style. The founders chose it as their preferred option, emphasizing that the logo should emphasize the word "academy." This approach helps create a memorable and recognizable image that effectively reflects the essence of the brand and its values.

We continued developing the chosen concept, using the letter "A" in the form of the Greek letter "alpha". This symbol evokes the concept of "academy," the intersection of art, philosophy, and science that forms the foundation of European culture. These ideas are reflected in our client's educational programs and mission, emphasizing the importance of integrating knowledge and cultural values.

We offer clients the ability to customize one element of the logo. This allows for the use of different colors for different study groups, facilitating their identification within the educational process. This approach promotes better organization and visual differentiation, which is especially important in an educational environment.

Elements of corporate identity: from concept to implementation

When developing a unique visual style for the Academy of Art Therapy, we paid attention to We paid special attention to several key aspects that will help us stand out from the competition. Key emphasis was placed on the color palette, typography, and stylistic elements. Effective use of these elements will create a memorable and harmonious image that strengthens the Academy's identity and attracts the target audience.

The color palette was formed based on the green range, symbolizing health and harmony. To avoid monotony in Instagram posts, we introduced three bright accent colors: yellow, red, and purple. These shades not only emphasize the freshness of the main color but also diversify the visual solutions, making the content more attractive and memorable. Using such accent colors helps attract audience attention and enhance the emotional component of posts, which contributes to increased user engagement.

A wide color palette not only enriches post layouts but also facilitates the design of various sections in highlights. This makes the content more attractive and user-friendly, which in turn increases engagement and improves information comprehension. Using a variety of colors helps highlight key points and improve profile navigation, which positively affects the overall aesthetics and functionality of the content.

When developing the font design, we took into account the client's wishes to use free fonts. The neutral sans serif Vela Sans was chosen as the main font, ideal for both headings and body copy thanks to its versatility and readability. The handwritten Champignon font was used as an accent, lending personality and dynamism to the design. The use of these fonts creates a harmonious combination that enhances the visual perception of the content.

We've added an alternative font, Roboto, which is supported by all operating systems. This ensures documents display correctly in Microsoft Word and improves their readability. Using the Roboto font contributes to a more modern and professional look for your documents.

Stylish brush strokes. We abandoned the traditional imitation of brush strokes and presented a minimalist interpretation. In Adobe Illustrator, we customized the brush tool, allowing you to apply it to any drawn lines, creating a modern and unique visual style. This approach gives the design freshness and originality, ideal for modern projects.

Photographic style. When developing the rules for photography, we analyzed the Academy's previous Instagram profile. They discovered that photographs with muted colors and expressive compositions are most engaging. Based on this analysis, they developed a new photo style that uses warm filters in Photoshop and Lightroom to adjust color and lighting. This approach allows us to improve the visual perception of content and create a unified style that will distinguish the Academy from competitors.

It's also important to maintain a balance between text and visual elements to create a harmonious post experience.
