9–12 October: Film Festival Dedicated to Mental Health Issues

MHFF is a festival that aims to demonstrate that mental health is not just a boring topic, but a vast area that is explored not only by medical professionals but also by creative artists. Art has significant therapeutic power, capable of helping combat various disorders, cope with difficult emotional states, and rethink life experiences.
In 2025, the key themes represented in the 55 selected works were narcissism, depression, phobias, and loneliness. These themes will be explored through a variety of genres, including both full-length and short fiction and documentaries, as well as animation, web series, music videos, and student projects.

11/10. The play "Nathan the Wise"

The play, created in 1779 by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, a famous representative German drama, still retains its relevance, which, unfortunately, cannot but be alarming in light of modern times. In October, it can be seen at the Shalom Theater under the direction of director Pyotr Shereshevsky. This performance touches on themes of religious stereotypes, anti-Semitism and hatred, and also explores questions of tolerance, human kindness and understanding of those who are different from us. The plot unfolds in Jerusalem during the Third Crusade, where Sultan Saladin rules the city, and a brave Templar risks his life to save the daughter of a Jewish merchant from the fire.

This event will explore the public restroom as a socio-architectural object, focusing on its function, design, and significance in the urban environment. Using this case study, participants will be able to discuss in depth contemporary standards and challenges, as well as successful solutions for inclusivity, safety, and branding of public spaces.

10/14. "Gula's Mass": The Musical Legacy of Icelander Jóhann Jóhannsson

Jóhann Jóhannsson created works that harmoniously combined elements of electronic music, the classical tradition and philosophical reflections. His work "Drone Mass" is the culmination of this unique fusion. As part of the tenth season of the Sound Up festival of contemporary music, the Russian premiere of this work will take place, and not just any place has been chosen for it, but the Peter and Paul Cathedral, which emphasizes the spirit of the composition. This large-scale and spatial meditation will be performed by the vocal ensemble Intrada and soloists of the Opensound Orchestra. It seems like an ideal opportunity for listeners to close their eyes and, immersed in the music, be transported from the hard wooden pews of the cathedral to a divine dimension.

"Paths of Development: Sasha Braulov's Exhibition Until October 31"

A solo exhibition of architectural embroidery, organized by St. Petersburg artist Sasha Braulov, will be on display at the White Tower in Yekaterinburg until the end of the month. His work features embroidered buildings from the Constructivist period—both those that still exist and those that have disappeared. His work also includes unrealized projects that remain only as drawings. Among the exhibits is an embroidery of the White Tower itself, built in 1929 according to a design by architect Moisei Reischer, which is part of the "Avant-Garde Architecture" series. Almost all of the works, with the exception of one, are located on the ground floor of the building, and no registration is required to view them. However, the upper floors are only accessible a few days a week. You can choose a time for your visit and sign up using the link provided.
Where and when
Yekaterinburg, Bakinskikh Komissarov Street, Building 2A.
