Emigration to Kazakhstan: A New Perspective on Life

In 2021, I began to build my financial safety net. Although it was insignificant, it became the foundation for my future financial steps. Previously, I was casual about money, spending it as it came in and not thinking about saving. However, the situation changed, and I borrowed $1,000 from a friend to provide myself with the necessary funds. This experience taught me the importance of financial planning and being mindful with money.

My travel plans were constantly changing. At first, I was considering trips to Estonia or Bali, but high costs and restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic made their adjustments. Ultimately, thanks to a friend's invitation, I chose Kazakhstan as my new homeland. In the future, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of moving to a European city, which would open up new horizons for living and working abroad.

Effective Strategies for Working with International Photography Clients

As a professional photographer, I understand the importance of skills that make me competitive on the international stage. My experience in sports and reportage photography, as well as my training in mobile photography, set me apart from other professionals. These qualities not only allow me to create unique images but also to share my knowledge with others, which contributes to the development of photography as a whole.

After moving to a new country, it's important to focus on a specific niche. I've found it necessary to avoid disunity in the services offered, whether it's wedding photography or love stories. Striving for maximum usefulness in your professional field is a key factor in success. Deploying a specialization allows you to better understand your clients' needs and offer them higher-quality solutions. This not only enhances my reputation but also helps attract a new audience.

When analyzing the Kazakhstan market, I discovered that high-quality sports photographers are quite rare here. This prompted me to actively seek contacts among sports-related professionals and organizations to offer my sports photography services. The results were even better than I expected—many representatives of the sports industry expressed interest in collaborating.

After moving from Moscow, I decided not to raise my prices, despite the higher prices in the new location. This decision helped me maintain good relationships with local photographers and build trust with clients. This approach not only promotes professional connections but also creates a positive image among clients, which is essential for a successful photography business.

In a creative profession, it's crucial not only to fulfill orders but also to establish strong relationships with clients. This creates a collaborative atmosphere and fosters loyalty. I believe it's possible to find common ground with clients without being overly accommodating. Throughout my professional journey in Kazakhstan, I've encountered exceptionally pleasant and engaging people, which has significantly enriched my experience and professional skills.

Instagram is one of the most effective tools for finding work and expanding professional contacts. This platform provides the opportunity to interact with bloggers, influencers, and companies, opening up new horizons for offering your services. Instead of simply selling your work, focus on creating unique and engaging content in collaboration with potential clients. This will not only showcase your skills but also highlight the value of photography as an art and a medium. Being able to establish partnerships and offer mutually beneficial projects can significantly increase your chances of success in this competitive environment.

My audience always finds a way to contact me, and many of my clients have become good friends. This confirms that sincerity and openness in communication really do produce positive results. Building trust with clients not only strengthens connections but also increases loyalty. It is important to be accessible and maintain transparent communication, which allows clients to feel comfortable and confident.

Professional Challenges and Future Plans

After moving to Kazakhstan, I have not encountered any serious professional challenges. The language has remained the same, and the level of shooting has not changed. All necessary aspects, including registration and payment, were successfully completed. The only missing element was the lens I received from Moscow. Overall, the process is proceeding according to plan.

In Kazakhstan, I plan to continue developing my skills in sports photography and exhibition organization. However, it's worth keeping in mind that circumstances may change, and our intentions may remain just that: ideas. Sports photography in Kazakhstan has enormous potential, and I strive not only to capture the highlights of competitions but also to create unique exhibitions that highlight the culture and achievements of sports in the country.

I intend to resume my successful mobile photography training project, which was temporarily suspended. This project aims to teach users the basics of mobile photography so they can create high-quality images with their smartphones. I also plan to continue shooting sports events, portraits, and documentaries, which will allow me to expand my skills and capture unique moments.

I created a short documentary film, shot on a mobile phone, that follows an athlete's preparation for the World Triathlon Championships during Ramadan. This project marked the beginning of my desire to develop similar work, particularly for a multimedia exhibition dedicated to sport and freedom. My background in creating documentary content allows me to delve deeper into important social themes, such as the influence of religious practices on athletic achievement and the personal stories of athletes. I believe that projects like these can inspire and draw attention to current issues, connecting sport and freedom.

Useful tips for those planning a move

Moving to another country is a serious challenge, and one of the main obstacles can be the fear of loneliness and lack of fulfillment. It is important to understand that the key to successful adaptation is the ability to correctly position your skills and experience. Personally, I have always been aware of what I can offer in the photography market, and this has significantly simplified my path. Understanding your value and capabilities helps you overcome fears and opens up new horizons in a foreign country.

If you're a photographer planning a move, it's important to consider two key aspects. First, make sure your work is in demand in the new country. Research the market to understand which types of photography and styles are most popular. Second, establish contacts in the local community. For example, if you're going to Turkey, it makes sense to find a Russian-speaking community and learn what types of photography are currently popular. This will help you not only adapt to new conditions but also expand your client base.

Doing what you love is key to successfully adapting to new living conditions. This not only helps maintain mental and emotional balance but also helps you find like-minded people in a new environment. Personal experience suggests that continuing to work in a favorite field, such as sports photography, can lead to new opportunities. Although family and wedding photography is in high demand in Kazakhstan, I was able to find my audience and clients, which confirms the importance of pursuing your passions even in changing circumstances. Doing what you love brings joy and satisfaction. I prefer to live in places where I can fully realize my passions and hobbies. Therefore, I did not choose Bali, as the island does not offer sufficient opportunities for sports photography. Although you can photograph surfing there, for me it is not enough. I strive to be in an environment where various sports are actively developing and there are opportunities to capture them on camera. Before traveling to a new country, it is important to carefully assess your skills and capabilities. Establishing contacts before arriving will help avoid feelings of isolation and more quickly adapt to a new cultural environment. Building connections with people living in the destination country promotes a better understanding of local traditions and customs and also facilitates the integration process. Preparing for intercultural communication will significantly increase your chances of a successful stay abroad.

Returning to Russia: My Feelings and Reflections

I feel nostalgic for Russia, where my family—parents and friends—remain. Veliky Novgorod, my hometown, will always hold a special place in my heart. However, I don't feel comfortable returning now, as I encounter people whose views differ greatly from mine, and this creates tension.

Living outside of Russia, with our unique mentality, brings both difficulties and advantages. Russians always strive for novelty, which contributes to our development. However, the feeling of loss of something important remains, which is common to many peoples. Patriotism, in my opinion, is the desire to benefit those you love and respect, as well as those who live near you. This approach can strengthen ties with the homeland and maintain a community spirit, regardless of where I live.

I feel comfortable in Kazakhstan, where I have new projects and friends. This country provides excellent opportunities for frequent travel. I value an active lifestyle, which includes business trips and new acquaintances. Kazakhstan has become an ideal place for me to realize my professional ambitions and develop social connections.

Access to the social networks Facebook and Instagram has been restricted in Russia. This decision is related to charges brought against Meta Platforms Inc. for extremist activity. These measures reflect the volatility of the digital market and emphasize the importance of users and businesses adapting to new conditions. The current situation requires searching for alternative platforms for communication and interaction, which may affect the online communication strategy.
