On the first day of filming at the refractory plant, unforeseen circumstances arose: the director announced that the smelting furnace was shut down for maintenance. This furnace was to become the centerpiece of our long-awaited photo shoot. As a result, we decided to use photography as a way to “start” the oven’s work, creating unique images that would reflect its significance and functionality.

That day we We focused on creating the atmosphere of a working smelter, paying particular attention to the lighting. We wanted viewers to feel the heat of the molten material. While we were installing the lighting, the plant's employees simulated the smelting process: a crane lifted the casting molds, and the smelter took up his workstation. This created an immersive effect, allowing viewers to see and feel the dynamics and tension characteristic of a real production process.

To create a unique lighting atmosphere in our project, we We used three pulsed lighting fixtures. These fixtures provide high brightness and precise light, allowing us to create the desired lighting effect. Proper light distribution throughout the space helps create a cozy and comfortable atmosphere and highlights key interior elements. Using pulsed lighting fixtures is a modern approach to lighting, making them an ideal choice for a variety of events and spaces.

• A Hensel with a power of 1000W (working at maximum power of 1/1) filled the entire visible space in the frame with light, simulating the work of a smelting shop. It is equipped with a 7-inch reflector with a holder for light filters: orange, light pink, and light yellow.
• A Hensel with a power of 500W (working at a medium power of 1/8) added a touch of natural light to the central part of the picture and the figure of a worker. The device is equipped with a 7-inch reflector with a honeycomb attachment.
• We placed the Hensel with a power of 1000W (working at maximum power of 1/1) near the open door of the furnace. Its light is directed into the oven, and the device is equipped with a 7-inch reflector with a honeycomb attachment.

During melting in the furnace, the temperature reaches very high values, as a result of which the molten mass acquires an almost white color. We achieved a similar effect by installing a powerful light source inside the furnace.

Natural lighting in this composition is shown in the left image. The lack of the feeling of working in a hot shop helps create the right atmosphere. To achieve this effect, it is important to use light and shadow correctly, and to take into account the peculiarities of the space.

Two pulsed lighting devices were used in our project. These lighting fixtures provide efficient and high-quality illumination, which plays a key role in creating the desired atmosphere. The use of pulsed illuminators allows for high brightness and image clarity, which is especially important in professional settings. Our experience confirms that such devices are the optimal choice for a variety of tasks, including photography and videography.

This device doesn't have filters, as the face is better perceived in natural light. The honeycomb attachment makes the light stream more concentrated, does not illuminate everything around, but highlights the necessary details.
