Your channel profile states that you are an "urban artist with a creative streak." Can you explain what this definition means?
I've thought long and hard about my identity, as I'm involved in many different activities: I'm a designer, artist, blogger, tour guide, and local historian. Some aspects of my work, such as my work as a designer, remain in the shadows, which is why many people think I only work on my blog and create designer merch.
I perceive myself as an artist in the broadest sense, which implies a creative approach to life. I'm also an urbanist, as I research and develop urban space, focusing on my native Sergiev Posad. My work aims to create harmony in the urban environment and promote its uniqueness.
Sergiev Posad is a town in the Moscow region, renowned for its historical and cultural heritage. It is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, founded in the 14th century. This architectural complex is an important center of Russian Orthodoxy. Within the walls of the Lavra, the famous artist Andrei Rublev created his famous icon, "The Trinity," considered a masterpiece of ancient Russian art. Sergiev Posad attracts tourists not only with its spiritual significance but also with its unique architecture, history, and picturesque landscapes.
According to historical records, the first Russian matryoshka doll was created in Sergiev Posad. This unique wooden souvenir has become a symbol of Russian culture and folk art. Matryoshka dolls, a set of nested figures, embody the multilayered Russian soul and traditions. Today, Sergiev Posad remains a center of matryoshka doll production, attracting tourists and art lovers from around the world.
Design, art, and architecture are interrelated fields, each contributing to the creation of harmonious and functional spaces. A designer uses artistic principles to develop aesthetically pleasing solutions, while an artist brings creativity and uniqueness to every detail. An architect, in turn, is responsible for the structural integrity and practical application of ideas. These disciplines complement each other, providing a comprehensive approach to design, where form and function combine to achieve a perfect result. This synthesis allows us to create spaces that are not only beautiful but also comfortable, safe, and efficient.
Since childhood, I have been passionate about drawing and continued to develop in this field while studying at art school. During our studies, we were given standard assignments, such as drawing the Lavra and studying local architecture. After art school, I entered the design department of the institute. I was fortunate to study in a generation that mastered traditional methods: pencil drawing and working from nature. I still actively apply these skills in my work, using sketches to generate fresh ideas and concepts.
In my professional career, I freelance in event design, including festivals, awards, concerts, and protocol events. My work includes visual design, branding, wayfinding, and construction design. I strive to create a unique atmosphere that aligns with the event's theme and leaves a lasting impression on attendees. My experience allows me to effectively combine creativity and functionality, making every event unforgettable and successful.
I strive to integrate style into the landscape, finding new approaches to design solutions for stages, auditoriums, sets, and multimedia screens. Recent projects where I served as lead designer include the International Tchaikovsky Classical Music Festival in Klin, the Golden Mercury Award, and the youth festival "Voice of the Streets - 2024" in Ryazan. My experience allows me to create unique visual solutions, harmoniously integrating design elements with the overall concept of the event, making each event unforgettable.
In my free time, I work in urban design. Having previously taught at educational institutions, I understand the importance of sharing my sources of inspiration with students. For me, this source is my hometown, its unique architecture, and the books and photographs that reflect its atmosphere and culture. My experience and passion for the urban environment help me pass on knowledge and inspire future generations of designers.

I've accumulated a lot of interesting ideas and impressions, which I decided to share online by creating a blog. Later, I expanded my projects by adding tours, merch, and collaborations with other authors and brands.
My motivation for sharing with people is the desire to inspire and help others. I believe that the exchange of ideas and experiences creates value and promotes personal growth. Every story, every piece of advice can have a significant impact on the lives of others, and this inspires me. I strive to share my experience to support those who are looking for answers or need support. This not only enriches my life, but also helps create a community based on mutual assistance and understanding.
By the age of thirty, I began to realize my mentality. I am one of those rare people who do not want to leave. Many of my peers choose to live in the capital: they study, build careers, start families, and take out mortgages in Moscow or the suburbs. For a long time, I commuted from Sergiev Posad to the city center, a journey that took 1.5 hours.
I started thinking about living in Sergiev Posad while maintaining my current income. The pandemic prompted me to look for remote work, which allowed me to combine various activities. Remote work opened up new horizons and allowed me to manage my time flexibly, which is especially valuable in today's world. Life in Sergiev Posad, with its unique atmosphere and cultural traditions, has become not only comfortable for me, but also conducive to professional growth.

Small towns have many advantages. They offer peace and security, with amenities within easy reach. Housing and service prices are often lower than in major cities. Residents of small towns are friendly: they will always smile and say hello. Towns such as Kolomna and Suzdal offer a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in local life, observing the daily activities of residents despite the presence of tourists. These places retain their originality and charm, making them attractive to those seeking peace and comfort.

Let's discuss your artwork. What sources of inspiration do you use to create graphics and paintings?
Ilya Repin's phrase, "Inspiration is the reward for hard labor," resonates deeply with me. Most often, I am inspired by some vivid visual image that remains in my head. I think it over, and then come to the studio to create sketches. Sometimes, due to my self-critical nature, I rework them numerous times, striving to achieve the ideal. This process requires effort, but it is precisely this that brings true inspiration.
My latest series of works is called "Light of Truth" and is dedicated to the details of the Lavra—its walls, towers, pond, and the vaults of the buildings in illumination. I have always been interested in the effect of sunlight and its absence on the perception of a landscape, changing its form, color, and atmosphere. Bright and harsh lighting can both reveal architectural details and obscure them. For me, this series symbolizes eternal and reliable searches, similar to the desire for truth and inner peace.

Designer & Experiences
We started offering tours a few years ago when we realized there was a great interest in the unique places and cultural characteristics of our region. Tours allow us not only to share knowledge but also to create unforgettable experiences for our guests. We strive to offer interesting routes that reveal the historical and cultural aspects, as well as the natural beauty of our area. Each tour is designed to give participants a complete understanding of what makes our region special and attractive to tourists.
It all started in 2018, when friends asked me to show them the city. At first, these were informal meetings, but soon I posted an ad on tour platforms. Currently, I lead about 20 tours a month, and all future holidays and weekends are already booked. I have followers and tourists who want to experience the city from an interesting and creative perspective, rather than through traditional storytelling.
I offer a variety of tour options for different groups. These include general city tours and specialized routes through specific neighborhoods. I also offer an immersive format, where we visit local residents and spend time with them, enjoying tea. This can be characterized as an "economy of emotions and impressions," where the emphasis is on unique experiences and interaction with the city's culture.

Sergiev Posad is famous for its shrine, which attracts many tourists. This monastery becomes the center of attraction for visitors, distracting them from other attractions of the city. However, it's worth noting that this increases interest in the city as a whole. Tourists who come for the holy sites also discover other charms of Sergiev Posad, which contributes to the development of the local economy and culture. Thus, the presence of such a significant religious landmark not only attracts attention but also contributes to the city's popularity.
This approach has its advantages and disadvantages. When tourists visit us for the first time, I often begin their tour with the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. This historical complex is an important part of our cultural heritage and the city's main attraction. The Lavra attracts attention with its architecture and spiritual atmosphere, which makes it an ideal starting point for exploring Kiev.

The majority of tourists in Posad are pilgrims who come with a clear purpose: to pray, buy souvenirs, have a bite to eat, and return home. Most often, pilgrims don't explore the town, despite the presence of interesting places, cafes, and museums. The Lavra is a separate world, independent of the surrounding city. There is a refectory, souvenir shops, tour guides, and a hotel here, and no one cares what tourists do outside of it.

It can be difficult to fall in love with your city, especially if it is small and has leaning houses. How can you find beauty in gray winter days when everything around you seems dull and ordinary? It's important to notice the details that make your city unique. Perhaps it's cozy streets, atmospheric local cafes, or talented artists creating their works against a backdrop of gray houses. Every city, even the smallest, has its own history and character. Find the places and moments in your city that evoke positive emotions, and let them become a source of inspiration. Loving your city means learning to see its beauty even in unremarkable things.
My professional work involves an element of creativity. I was born and live in this city, and I strive to actively participate in its transformation. We have all the necessary resources for shaping a local identity, including the development and shared goals of our residents. This creates unique opportunities for joint growth and improving the quality of life in our community.
Unfortunately, many talented and intelligent people leave for the capital, which negatively impacts the development of the creative sector in Sergiev Posad. Nevertheless, our city still has specialists capable of contributing to its development and prosperity.
Collaborations arise from the interaction between creative individuals and entrepreneurs seeking to reflect local identity in their business. I often receive emails from people involved in creative projects asking questions about how best to integrate elements of local culture and traditions into their products or services. This desire not only strengthens ties to the community but also helps distinguish a business from its competitors. The main task in such cases is to find a unique approach that would combine creativity and the cultural heritage of the region.

This is how your collaboration with the Svetley coffee shop came about, within the framework of which original cup designs were developed illustrating city landmarks.
I have always dreamed of creating my own merch that would stand out for its originality. One day, while chatting with one of my followers—a female coffee entrepreneur—we came up with the idea of making cups. Coffee and tea are universal drinks enjoyed by many, and the to-go format is becoming increasingly popular. So in September our first two glasses were born: one decorated with urban details, and the other with the city's names.

The cups have a QR code that directs you to an interactive map of Sergiev Posad. This map allows you to learn about the history of the city and, if desired, plan a walking route. We received positive feedback, and this did not go unnoticed in the city, so the cup project will continue. The release of the "Color the City" cup is planned for November 2024, as well as my first original coloring book for children.

Postcards are a unique way to convey your feelings and emotions. They can be used to congratulate, thank, or simply let someone know you're thinking of them. In the digital world, postcards remain relevant as they add a personal touch to communication. Our postcards are distinguished by their original design and attention to detail, making them the perfect gift for any occasion. Choose postcards that reflect your feelings and share them with your loved ones.
In 2018–2019, I developed a concept for monetizing offline gatherings where I share knowledge about the traditions and history of various items, such as the Soviet "Nevalyashka" or the "Korovka" candy, created in Zagorsk. The postcards, which I offered as admission, were inexpensive but allowed me to effectively monetize events in which I had invested significant resources.
The front of the postcards features iconic landmarks of our region, and the back contains detailed information about each one, including a QR code that leads to interesting stories. My postcards are currently available in local shops and cafes. Moreover, it is gratifying to know that other artists were inspired by my example and began to create original souvenirs, which promotes cultural exchange and supports local art.

The drawings became the basis for the stickers. Then I noticed that a team from St. Petersburg was making badges inspired by architectural elements. This prompted me to explore the topic, and I collected numerous references. As a result, my first badge-casing appeared, which marked the beginning of several series of unique badges.

I have paintings, postcards, badges, stickers and maps. Recently I added a metal keychain with the city coat of arms. I plan to launch a series of T-shirts soon. It's important that the merch reflects local characteristics while also being interesting and appealing to customers in its own right.
I developed several branding options for the city name in various styles, including well-known brands like Nike and IKEA. This work attracted attention and was reposted by the "Architectural Excesses" community. In the future, I plan to launch a collection of T-shirts with these designs.

Your collection of books and photographs of the city contains unique items. Which of them are the rarest and most valuable?
While studying the history of Sergiev Posad, I constantly discovered new facts and events. Every book, every link led to new sources of information. As a result, I built a small but significant library, which I digitized and made publicly available. I'm confident it will be useful and interesting for local residents.
The Mikhail Semenov Library offers a unique collection of books and images dedicated to 19th- and 20th-century Russia. Here you can find rare editions and historical materials that immerse you in the atmosphere of a bygone era. Discover the richness of Russian cultural heritage through the literature and visual arts available in this library.

A rare copy is a book about Zagorsk from the series "Architecture of USSR Cities", written by the architect and restorer Viktor Baldin and published in 1958. In it, the author examines the history and development of the city, focusing on the influence of atheism and communist ideology on the architectural appearance of Zagorsk during the Soviet period. This work is a significant source for studying both the architectural features and the cultural context of that era.
