Shy Cosmetics Packaging
HSE School of Art and Design Master's students, Anastasia Alekseevskaya and Valeria Gorbacheva, created a minimalist cosmetic brand of cold creams called Shy. The brand's assortment includes three products, each with a different level of protection, indicated by a blush on the packaging. The Shy brand emphasizes simplicity and effectiveness, offering consumers high-quality skincare products.
Cold creams are unique cosmetics designed to protect the skin from the negative effects of cold and strong winds. These creams are especially relevant in mountain climates and extreme temperatures. Their formula provides hydration and nourishment to the skin, creating a protective barrier that prevents moisture loss and minimizes the risk of irritation. Using cold creams during the cold season helps maintain the health and beauty of your skin, making them indispensable for people who spend time outdoors in harsh conditions.


Work on the project began with a search for visual metaphors related to the word "cold." We explored various associations, made sketches, and experimented with ideas. One of the first concepts that caught our attention was blush. This metaphor immediately struck us as vibrant and tangible, conjuring up images of the contrast between warm and cold.
We wanted to create a product that would be sincere and inviting. Many cold creams have a strong, medical-style identity, emphasizing their purpose as "serious products for serious needs." However, we believe that skincare is not only about protection but also about self-love. It encompasses physicality, sensuality, and nurturing one's inner well-being. With this concept in mind, we decided to strip away unnecessary elements and focus on what's essential.
The color palette features sophisticated blushes characterized by subtle and transparent transitions between cool and warm tones. Pink and blue symbolize breath and touch, reflecting the harmony of two opposing states. The cheeks become not only a visual element but also an expressive voice of the brand in communication with potential customers. The right color palette helps create an emotional connection with the audience and enhances brand perception.
Our team formed unexpectedly when Leonid Slavin randomly assigned us to groups during a class. Working with new colleagues always requires compromise and coordination of opinions to jointly see an idea from a unified perspective. These additional constraints usually lead to fruitful results, and in our project, they proved to be very useful. Leonid also helped us define the brand's voice in typography: it has a quiet, slightly shy tone that conveys unobtrusive expertise and care. This approach makes our project more appealing and effective, which is essential for successful marketing.

Architecture of the "Boundaries of Visibility" Exhibition at Winzavod
In April, the "Boundaries of Visibility" exhibition opened at the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art. It features works by 42 artists who explore the concepts of vision, the visible, and focus. The exhibition immerses viewers in the world of perception, focusing on how we see the surrounding reality and how various artistic techniques influence our perception. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to reflect on the nature of the gaze and the boundaries of perception.
The exhibition's participants explore the theme of vision from different perspectives: from ways of perceiving information in the modern world to the generational traces left in an apartment's interior. They also focus on light refraction and how artistic images influence perception, leaving an imprint on the retina.

The architecture of the White Workshop and the Red Workshop spaces imposed certain restrictions, which at the same time became the basis for the development of key artistic solutions. These constraints influence the perception of space and shape unique artistic approaches, making each work in these workshops truly original.
In our work, we focused on volumes and perspectives, which allowed us to change the traditional perception of the halls. In the Red Workshop, we deliberately moved the entry point and created a narrow corridor that leads the viewer to a new, unconventional area of the hall. This approach opened up the opportunity to perceive the space differently, changing the direction of gaze and thinking.
In the White Workshop, the main challenge was the impressive space with tall and large-scale architecture. To soften this effect and focus the viewer's attention, we designed a rotunda - a round volume with an upper ceiling that greets visitors at the entrance. This rotunda opens the space, slows down perception, and helps focus on details. The creation of a rotunda not only visually divides the space but also serves as an important wayfinding element, inviting people to further exploration.
After exiting the rotunda, the viewer finds themselves in front of a triangular element that interacts with the space of the hall. This element disrupts conventional perspective, resembling a giant ship's prow. Depending on the viewer's trajectory, it can visually alter the perception of distance, creating the effect of shrinking or expanding space. This design approach emphasizes the dynamics of perception and allows for a deeper immersion in the atmosphere of the hall.
We deeply researched the topic of limited vision and "blind spots" of perception, which formed the basis of our design approach. In our works, we emphasized the phenomenon of scotoma—areas where the image is lost due to damage to the cornea or optic nerve. This inspired us to create vertical pylons and structures in the Red Workshop, which symbolize obstacles, visual disruptions, and shadows in perception. We strive to create conditions in which the viewer cannot perceive everything at once: their movement is interrupted, and they are forced to assemble the image fragmentarily, like a person with visual impairments. This approach allows us to deepen our understanding of perception and highlight the challenges faced by people with disabilities.
The rich green color in the exhibition is not a mistake. It is perceived differently by people with visual impairments and is associated with an irrational perception of reality. In such contexts, green can evoke a variety of emotions and associations, making it an important element in design and art. The use of this color can bring depth and uniqueness to a visual composition, attracting attention and generating interest.
In this project, the corridor in the Red Workshop is especially significant for me. Its structure, consisting of tapering rhythmic ribs and pylons, creates an optical illusion. When moving in one direction, the path seems short, while on the return trip, it is perceived as significantly longer. This is a spectacular play with perspective that affects the perception of time and space, giving the corridor a unique atmosphere.
The triangular volume in the White Workshop is one of my favorite objects. It impacts the viewer both emotionally and visually: the massive form is impressive, almost aggressively displaying its scale. The sharp angles create the illusion of movement, suggesting a collision with the bow of a ship. This unique design attracts attention and generates interest, making it an important part of the architectural landscape.
The cap above Roman Sakin's sculptures is the small detail that gives the work a special atmosphere. It is an element that creates a delicate, almost magical reflection that attracts attention and arouses interest. Although only a minimal intervention, it produces an unexpected visual effect, enriching the perception of the sculptures and emphasizing their artistic value.
The most valuable moment is the turn at the end of the corridor of the Red Workshop. After passing this section and looking back, you suddenly realize how everything has changed: the perspective shifts, the path seems to unfold, revealing a new dimension of space. This moment becomes the reason for the entire journey.

Identity and photoset for the creative agency BTWN
The Dotorg agency has created a unique corporate identity for the agency BTWN. The name BTWN is an acronym for "between." The BTWN team specializes in connecting businesses with their clients by developing innovative games and game mechanics. These solutions help effectively promote products and ideas, creating interaction between brands and their target audience.


The metaphor of this project is the concept of "out of the box." We explored many options: integrating the logo into phrases where BTWN became part of the equation, placing it between different elements, and looking for unexpected solutions. As a result, we came up with an interesting visual image - the heads and feet of different people. The head personifies the business that makes decisions and creates services and products. The legs, in turn, symbolize the clients seeking these solutions. This is how the visual image of halves was created, with the BTWN brand between them. This approach emphasizes the connection between business and clients, making it particularly relevant in the modern world.
Our team participated in the photo shoot. This decision was made for several reasons. Firstly, using an in-house team significantly reduces costs compared to hiring models. Secondly, working in such an environment is enjoyable and creates a positive atmosphere, which is reflected in the final result.
Both agencies, Dotorg and BTWN, participated in the shoot. We developed a clear plan, and each shot was thought out in advance. Props were carefully prepared. During the shoot, we improvised with poses and movements, which added an element of fun and team cohesion. This created an excellent atmosphere for team building and made the process more exciting.
A corporate branding project doesn't have to be strict and minimalist. BTWN demonstrates how to bring a striking communication idea to life in unexpected forms. Photographic style plays a key role in creating visual brand communications, including exhibitions, websites, presentations, and social media. Four images resulting from this photo shoot have already been integrated into the "Ku-Du" game developed by BTWN. This approach emphasizes the importance of originality and creativity in corporate branding, allowing you to stand out from the competition and attract the attention of your target audience.
Every image we create is a delight: from two people in a tube-like conference room to original heads, such as a post-it head, an aquarium head, and a heart head. The image of a head with lemon eyes is especially striking. These million-lemon eyes attract the attention of everyone, including clients and businesses, and are becoming a real trend.

During the era of the Great Silent Film, intertitles played an important role, serving as a link between scenes. These captions not only informed the audience about the characters' lines and their thoughts, but also helped establish the context of what was happening on-screen. Intertitles became a full-fledged element of the storytelling, adding depth and intrigue to the plot. They became an attraction, attracting the audience's attention and enhancing the emotional weight of the scenes. As a result, intertitles had a significant influence on the development of cinema, shaping the unique storytelling style characteristic of silent films.
Since the advent of sound cinema, text on screen has lost its primary role. In modern films, intertitles have become secondary, but they still have the ability to convey atmosphere and emotion. This is especially noticeable in genres such as horror and science fiction, where intertitles can heighten tension and draw the viewer into the plot. Intertitles continue to serve an important function, emphasizing mood and creating a unique atmosphere, making them significant elements of cinema.
As a typeface designer, it is difficult for me to single out one specific detail in the Raffiné graphics. A typeface is a complex object, and the greatest satisfaction comes from realizing that all the elements—proportions, character shapes, drops, and serifs—harmoniously combine into a single, functioning system. This process requires meticulous work and attention to detail, which makes font creation a fascinating and meaningful endeavor.
The search for the weight of the droplets in Bold was memorable. In bold weights, the white counterforms become more noticeable due to the strong contrast. The droplets in Bold initially looked too light and were lost against the white background. However, when the right shade of black for the droplets was found, all the elements fell into place, and the typeface began to look harmonious.

Illustrations for Yandex's Open Kitchen
Seva Vyvodtsev, creative director of the agency Trud presented a new case study—a diptych of illustrations for Yandex's media project "Open Kitchen." The visual narrative shows the life of mushrooms from two different perspectives, allowing for a deeper understanding of their ecosystem and role in nature. This project highlights the agency's creative approach and their ability to create unique content that engages audiences and sparks interest in gastronomy and nature.


This is a series of illustrations for the Open Kitchen newsletter. The second season of the newsletter was dedicated to a variety of foods and drinks, and the covers for each topic were created by different artists, including myself. These illustrations highlight the uniqueness and diversity of the culinary world, drawing attention to each product.
Mushrooms are an amazing and diverse group of organisms that play a vital role in ecosystems. Not only do they provide food for many animals and humans, but they also play a key role in the decomposition of organic matter, thereby contributing to the nutrient cycle in nature. There are many types of mushrooms, each with its own unique characteristics and properties.
Mushrooms can be classified as edible and poisonous. Edible mushrooms, such as button mushrooms, porcini mushrooms, and chanterelles, are popular in cooking and used in a variety of dishes. Poisonous mushrooms, such as death caps, can be hazardous to health and even life-threatening. Therefore, it is important to be able to distinguish between safe and dangerous mushrooms.
Furthermore, mushrooms are of significant importance in medicine. Some species of mushrooms are used to produce antibiotics and other drugs. For example, penicillium, derived from a fungus, has become a revolutionary discovery in the treatment of infectious diseases.
Fungi also play an important role in agriculture, where they are used to improve soil quality and increase crop yields. Mycorrhizal fungi, which form symbiotic relationships with plant roots, aid in the absorption of nutrients and water.
The study of fungi, their properties, and their impact on the environment continues to be a hot topic for scientific research. Interest in fungi is growing not only among scientists but also among nature enthusiasts and culinary enthusiasts. Mushrooms attract attention due to their diversity of shapes, colors, and textures, as well as their ability to adapt to different conditions.
Thus, fungi are not just food but also an important part of the ecosystem, possessing many beneficial properties. Their study and use are of great importance for human health and the ecology as a whole.
First, I created a sketch with a low angle, which alludes to Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland." While working with the Yandex Food team, we came up with the idea of expanding the project with a diptych, adding a second perspective – from above. This led us to think about the differences between perspectives, and I wanted to tell a story about the "visible invisible" in the context of the mushroom theme.
Creating complex illustrations with complex ideas has many advantages. Firstly, such illustrations can attract audience attention and stand out from simple images. They can effectively convey complex concepts and ideas that are difficult to express in words.
Furthermore, complex illustrations help create a unique visual style and a memorable brand image. They can be used in various fields, including marketing, education, and art, to generate interest and stimulate discussion.
It's also worth noting that well-designed illustrations can improve the perception of information, making it more accessible and understandable to a wider audience. Ultimately, complex illustrations with deep ideas not only enhance content but also enhance its value and impact.
Why create simple images? In the modern era, when generated images have flooded the internet, there is an excess of simple and repetitive plots with familiar graphics. Creating such works is pointless, as machines can perform this task much faster and more efficiently. Instead, it is worth striving for uniqueness and originality to stand out from the crowd.

Campaign for the jewelry brand Posie
The jewelry house Posie presented a new jewelry collection called "Bouquets." This collection is inspired by the unique "precious bouquets" created in the mid-18th century by the Russian imperial court jeweler Jérémie Pozier. The collection's central motif is a fantasy petal, part of one of these magnificent compositions, now housed in the State Hermitage Museum. The "Bouquets" collection combines historical heritage with a contemporary interpretation, offering exquisite jewelry for connoisseurs of fine jewelry.
To celebrate the release of "Bouquets," a video was created that stands out from the standard videos typically produced for ultra-luxury brands. This unique approach to visual content emphasizes the individuality and style of the products, setting new standards in the industry.
In this video, we highlighted several key references to 18th-century cultural attributes. These elements provide a deeper understanding of the historical context and cultural characteristics of the time. We analyzed how 18th-century art, architecture, and literature are reflected in the video's visual and thematic aspects. Every detail, be it the characters' costumes or the musical accompaniment, serves as a link between the past and the present, emphasizing the importance of cultural heritage.
- Imperial pleasure gardens, where members of the court strolled sedately and entertained themselves, and where balls were held.
- Baroque dances with static poses. The extravagant dances of the video's main characters are like metamorphic balls: women exchanged clothes with men, and the guests' outfits had to match the shades of the landscapes where the balls took place.
- Pastel colors are as if from portraits by Russian artists Levitsky, Rokotov, and Borovikovsky.
- The image of a music box - this item was extremely fashionable during that period.
- Petal-shaped decorations. For example, we know from portraits and documents of the era that Empress Elizabeth Petrovna often adorned her hair and dress with fresh flowers or precious bouquets.

In drawing on Linda Nochlin's texts, we recognize that creating contemporary art requires considering the legacy and experience of previous masters. On the cover of our publication, we experimented with graphics inspired by Auguste Renoir's painting, creating a unique visual image.
In our palette, we used two contrasting Pantone colors: lilac and cool lemon. These shades work beautifully together and complement each other harmoniously. Lilac was also integrated into the book layout as a complementary color to the black text, helping to clearly separate the different types of material.
For the main font and display face, we chose the versatile Aeroport sans serif from Brownfox Studio. This font fits harmoniously with our narrative concept, creating the desired voice and rhythm. It doesn't dominate the text, but rather organically complements it, enhancing the overall perception.
The book grid plays a key role in shaping the rules of the game when creating a design. In this context, we turn to the Swiss school of design, which draws on the experience of classical masters. The book layout is organized on a nine-column grid, which provides flexibility and variety in the placement of elements. Each indent in the layout corresponds to a grid step, which helps achieve harmony and rhythm in the composition. Different types of text occupy strictly defined positions in the layout: from the chapter number at the top of the page to the footnotes located in a three-column section at the bottom of the right page. This approach creates a dynamic and lively design that matches the nature of the narrative.

Font and Identity "Abashevo Toys"
Misha Gorshkov, a first-year master's student in Art Direction at the HSE School of Design, presented his project titled "Craft as a Brand" under the supervision of Leonid Slavin. In his work, Mikhail researched the Abashevka toy and developed a unique identity with a custom font for a children's tour to the village of Abashevo in the Penza Region. The project focuses on the cultural heritage of the region and promotes traditional crafts through modern design.

The Abashevskaya toy is a unique product of the local pottery industry, which originated in the 19th century in the villages Bogdanov and Abashevo. These ceramic pieces are distinguished by their original shapes, including young ladies, birds, and fantastical animals with short legs and long necks. The toys are made from local blue clay and coated with vibrant enamel, giving them a distinctive appeal. It is known that traditionally, these toys were produced by men, and the craft was passed down from father to son for many generations. The Abashevskaya toy not only reflects the cultural heritage of the region, but is also a valuable object for collectors and lovers of folk art.

The most difficult letter in the project turned out to be the letter "U". Every new project brings its own challenges, and it's difficult to predict which letter will require the most time. In this case, we were faced with a problem involving active decorative loops and a slanted shape that clashed. Ultimately, we found an optimal solution and successfully completed this challenging task.
I was born in the Penza region, which is my small homeland. This heritage was the main motive for choosing Abashevo toys as the theme of my project. Abashevo toys embody the unique traditions and cultural values of the region, making them an important object of research and popularization. In this project, I strive to preserve and convey the traditions associated with this art, emphasizing its significance to our history and culture.

Architectural Kidz has unveiled a new project – a Japanese restaurant in Düsseldorf. The restaurant's interior is inspired by the anime "Samurai Champloo" and reflects the personalities of its three main characters: the calm samurai Jin, the impulsive and freedom-loving Mugen, and the courageous woman Fuu. The restaurant's design creates a unique atmosphere, combining elements of Japanese culture with modern trends. Every corner of the interior is carefully designed to immerse guests in the world of anime, making their visit special.
Düsseldorf is one of the most "Japanese" cities in Germany, home to one of the largest Japanese communities in the world since the 1950s. As a result, the city has developed a well-developed infrastructure, including temples, shops, and other cultural attractions. Local residents place high demands on Japanese restaurants, which contributes to the maintenance of a high level of culinary traditions and the authenticity of Japanese cuisine. Düsseldorf attracts not only the Japanese, but also all lovers of Japanese culture, making it an important cultural center in Europe.

In Düsseldorf already boasts numerous excellent ramen shops, and we knew that simply being a "good Japanese" wouldn't be enough. Our goal was to create a place with a unique character and atmosphere that would stand out from the crowd. We strive to offer more than just food, but genuine culinary art that reflects the richness of Japanese culture. Funky Ramen is more than just a place; it's a unique space where traditional Japanese cuisine meets contemporary street trends. We strove to create an atmosphere where authenticity meets modern dynamism. Our choice of Samurai Champloo as inspiration was no accident: this cultural phenomenon isn't a Japanese history textbook, but a living art form where a samurai can dance to the rhythms of hip-hop. In our menu, we respect tradition while using a modern language and creative approach to offer you the unique taste of ramen. In this context, the East represents an aesthetic code and language through which we discuss broader concepts such as labor, imperfection, and contrast. The European aspect of the project emphasizes the approach to space, including free layout, open spaces, and the use of honest materials. Industrial elements such as concrete, exposed masonry, and acrylic, which are more closely associated with Western architectural tradition, play a significant role in this. This symbiosis of Eastern and Western aesthetics creates a unique atmosphere that blends various cultural influences and contemporary design trends. Funky Ramen is a unique project that reflects the dialogue between Eastern and Western cultures. This restaurant goes beyond traditional Japanese cuisine and offers an atmosphere in which elements of both cultures are harmoniously intertwined. The interior and furnishings create a unique experience, allowing visitors to enjoy not only delicious food but also cultural exchange, making it an attractive place to learn about various traditions.

Branding for the Fringilla Ornithological Station
Liana Bubnova, a Master's student in the Art Direction program at the HSE School of Design, presented a branding project for the Fringilla field station. This station is one of the first ornithological stations in Europe to band and study birds. It is located in the Curonian Spit National Nature Reserve in the Kaliningrad Region and belongs to the Russian Academy of Sciences. Despite its popularity among tourists, the station does not have a bright and attractive identity, which makes Liana's project especially relevant for increasing recognition and interest in this unique place.

When creating the pattern, I drew inspiration from the birds commonly found on the Curonian Spit. The presence of the chaffinch was an important aspect, as its Latin name is fringilla. I also strove to achieve harmony between the images of large and small birds in the pattern to make it look balanced and aesthetically pleasing.
In one of the first versions of the project, I used gradients instead of solid backgrounds to create the effect of sunsets, sunrises, and cloudy skies. I added images of birds to the gradients, and it was these colors that combined best when overlaid. Although I later abandoned this idea, I liked the colors, and I decided to keep them in the final version.
"Fringilla" is a unique location that marked the beginning of the banding and in-depth study of bird migration routes. This place attracts the attention of not only scientists but also tourists, thanks to its fascinating and unusual approach to studying nature. The research conducted here helps better understand bird behavior and their migratory routes, making Fringilla a key location in ornithological research. Tourists can not only enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding area but also learn a wealth of new information about the lives of birds, making a visit an unforgettable experience. Bolditalic School eighth-graduation student Lyubov Volkova unveiled her new typeface, Dispater. This narrow display unicase is the result of in-depth graphic research, where each character becomes an independent work of art. Dispater offers a wide variety of weights, from Regular to Extrabold. It supports all European languages using the Latin and Cyrillic alphabets and offers a variety of ligatures, making it an ideal choice for designers and typographers seeking uniqueness and expressiveness in their projects.

In this work, I was struck by the Gothic medieval motifs that permeate the Lombard Versailles. This culture is characterized by the fact that each grapheme is a carefully thought-out work of art. Gothic elements in the design create a unique atmosphere that draws attention and sparks interest in the history and aesthetics of this period.
The goal of this project was to create a uniquely dark atmosphere, where each character of the font is perceived as an independent sign. We drew inspiration from original versalia to develop terminals and character shapes that harmonize with the overall concept. This approach not only emphasizes the individuality of each element but also creates a striking visual series that attracts attention and leaves a lasting impression.
Completing the font was a true challenge, as it is a complex and multifaceted process. The ampersand proved particularly challenging, requiring special attention and precision. The need to carefully select the name also added additional complexity.

At the 2025 White Square Festival, the Utopia Orchestra project was awarded two gold awards in the Creation of New Brand Identity and Design Craft categories. Utopia Orchestra continues to set new standards in the industry, demonstrating creativity and professionalism in every project.

We were unfamiliar with the intricacies of academic music life and, for the first time, encountered an interesting concept: an orchestra is a community of like-minded individuals united by shared values. We realized the importance of the role of the conductor and orchestra director, in particular Teodor Currentzis, who has the ability to bring people together. This discovery demonstrated how deeply a shared understanding of culture can unite people, even in its most subtle and fragile manifestations.
We observed a highly organized and well-coordinated team at the client’s, demonstrating professionalism, patience, and a deep understanding of the complexities of the processes. Such a caring approach is rare and became the basis for the implementation of bold decisions. Each participant strove to achieve an impressive result and find the necessary emotion.
Digital art director of the project, Alena Melnikova, notes that this project was a real challenge. While working on it, she faced many difficult decisions and compromises. It was a challenging process, but the client's team's support made it all the more valuable. Their willingness to embrace bold ideas and experiment is rare in design, and it is precisely this that gives the project its unique character and expressiveness.
In this project, we decided to abandon the traditional relay-run approach, in which the identity is first developed, then passed on to the design team, and then to the development team. At Utopia, all key stakeholders were involved from the very beginning, starting with the first brainstorming session. This approach ensured a shared understanding of the context and allowed everyone to work more cohesively and productively. We are confident that this made the project more cohesive and harmonious.
We developed the design for a closed community, avoiding the use of pop symbols. The main focus was on a font that reflects the language of the musicians of the Utopia community. This approach allows us to convey the uniqueness and atmosphere of communication within the group while maintaining individuality and style.
Kirill Turygin, type designer, shares his impressions of the project: "This was an interesting and complex project in which we were able to experience the mystical aesthetic and reveal its original idea through effective teamwork. The letters became the central element of the identity, developing the concept of the unique language and voice of a closed community. Typography resonated, becoming the key to understanding the entire orchestra."

Brand system for
Art director and AI designer Maxim Garbuzov created a unique visual system for an innovative music app that generates songs and melodies based on user requests. The platform's artificial intelligence creates music that reflects mood and atmosphere, making each composition truly unique and relevant. The app allows users to discover new musical horizons, allowing them to enjoy audio tracks that seamlessly fit their emotional state.
The "bubble" shape for the logo and graphic elements was created by stylizing the capital "O" as an equalizer or sound wave. This shape symbolizes the sound emanating from the underlying structure and creates a visual connection between the graphics and audio.
For Orphea, I used artificial intelligence to generate all visual elements, which was consistent with the project's positioning as an AI music platform. Although the neural network occasionally made anatomical and semantic errors during the generation process, this did not significantly impact the overall result. The development of visual content with the help of AI allowed us to create a unique and modern look that reflects the essence of the platform and its innovative nature.

Zed font
The Dutch company Typotheque presented A significant typeface project is Zed Display. This typeface is characterized by its clean, minimalist, and pragmatic nature, making it ideal for effective communication. Zed's design is free of decorative elements, emphasizing its functionality. Zed's description characterizes it as a prototypical sans-serif typeface, making it a versatile solution for a variety of typographic tasks. This project stands out because its graphic design is based on serious research into real-world problems. Laboratory tests were conducted at the National Center for Ophthalmology in Paris to determine the optimal letterform proportions and improve the typeface's legibility for people with vision impairments such as age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and keratoconus. This approach ensures accessibility and readability for all users, making the project not only aesthetically pleasing but also socially significant.

The prototypical sans serif typeface today is not only a universal variable sans serif with multiple interpolation axes, but also a font that supports a variety of scripts. This trend interests me because it unites designers from different countries and presents them with complex challenges. It is essential to find universal forms that work harmoniously across all styles. Expanding language support complicates design, making it crucial to pay attention to each script to achieve harmony and functionality.
Work on Cyrillic in the Zed project began with nine styles, focusing on rhythm and harmony of form. However, as the engineering component increased during development, the need arose for specialized tools to simplify the designers' work. Despite their implementation, each character required additional refinement, and sometimes even modifications to the original form. Engineering limitations became an incentive to search for new solutions, which turned out to be more exciting than complete creative freedom.
I especially like the Extra-Compressed Black Rounded font, which is distinguished by its bright white color and rounded stroke ends. These endings are so pronounced that they sometimes change the shape of the letters. The most complex and interesting letters in this font are the letters "b", "l", and "u".

The project arose from personal experience of motherhood and professional interest in the perception of visual stimuli by infants in the first months of their life. We explore how newborns respond to various visual elements, which allows parents to better understand the needs and development of their children at early stages.
Newborn vision develops in stages. In the first weeks of life, a baby's eyes are unable to clearly distinguish objects. Initially, newborns see mostly blurred shapes and contours. Around one month of age, vision begins to improve, and the baby begins to fixate on bright objects. By two months, vision becomes sharper, and the baby begins to distinguish colors. By three months, newborns begin to follow moving objects and can focus on faces. By six months, vision reaches adult levels, and the baby is able to distinguish fine details. It is important to remember that vision development in newborns is individual, and each child can develop at their own pace. Regular checkups with a pediatrician will help monitor your baby's eye health and promptly detect any abnormalities.

The process of perceiving visual information begins with the work of rods and cones - light-sensitive cells of the retina. The cones responsible for color perception are not yet fully developed in newborns, which explains their preference for black-and-white images with high contrast in the first weeks of life. These images are perceived most effectively by babies, since their visual system is still adapting to the world around them.
From a physiological point of view, black and white are not colors in the traditional sense. They are not associated with the wavelength of light, but are determined by the intensity of light. Our eyes perceive them differently than colors such as red or blue. This is analogous to the CMYK and RGB color models, where white represents a combination of all color channels, and black represents their complete absence. Interestingly, a newborn's eye also begins to perceive colors gradually, starting with basic sensitivity to light. Thus, human visual development is not only a process of recognizing different colors, but also a sequential discovery of the world, pixel by pixel. Before developing the visual portion of the flashcards, I studied research on contrast sensitivity, the characteristics of the visual cortex, focusing mechanisms, and early pattern formation processes. This knowledge helped create a system of visual stimuli that aligns with the biological chronology of vision development. This approach ensures more efficient perception of information and improves interaction with the material, which is essential for learning and perceiving visual content. The flashcard series is designed based on four key areas. Each of these areas provides a unique approach and opportunities for in-depth exploration of the topic. The flashcards are designed to help users better understand and retain information, making the learning process more effective and engaging. Each direction includes carefully selected content that meets contemporary requirements and audience interests.
- development of spatial perception (through scale, overlap, symmetry);
- recognition of forms and repetitions (geometric patterns, rhythm);
- development of sensitivity to contrast (sharp transitions, gradual introduction of color);
- training visual tracking (dynamics, directionality, curved trajectories).
As a result, the project has evolved into a study of the influence of design on the perception of information, bypassing words and meaning. It demonstrates how visual elements can influence emotions and understanding, shaping the experience of interacting with content. This research emphasizes the importance of design in communication and its ability to convey ideas on an intuitive level.
