Mohawk: Paper Art and Innovation

In 1931, during the Great Depression, George O'Connor took a bold step and purchased a bankrupt paper mill in New York State. This move marked the beginning of the successful history of the Mohawk Company, which quickly established itself as a leading manufacturer of premium paper. Through innovative technology and high-quality products, Mohawk has become a symbol of reliability and professionalism in the paper industry, providing customers with a variety of products for a variety of needs. Today, Mohawk continues to be at the forefront of the industry, offering environmentally friendly solutions and high-quality materials for printing and decoration.

Mohawk recently announced a new paper collection called the Beautiful Collection, created in collaboration with design studio Hybrid. This collection is inspired by the work of the Lost Art Salon gallery in San Francisco, which focuses on restoring the reputations of forgotten artists. The Beautiful Collection combines high quality and original design, making it an ideal choice for designers and creative professionals seeking to highlight their projects. This collection includes the book "Make a Memory," which features works by artists supported by Lost Art Salon. The project illustrates the harmonious combination of various paper types, as well as the interplay of color and black-and-white printing with the texture of Mohawk paper. The book highlights the unique possibilities of print and artwork, creating a visual dialogue between materials and images.

Préma-Québec: An Important Project for Premature Babies

Préma-Québec is a Quebec-based non-profit organization that offers financial and psychological support to families experiencing difficulties due to premature birth. According to the Canadian Association of Prematurity, approximately one in ten babies in Canada is born prematurely. This statistic underscores the importance of Préma-Québec's work in supporting parents and babies facing the challenges of preterm birth. The organization provides access to essential resources and helps families adapt to new circumstances, making its work particularly relevant in today's society.

Canadian studio LG2 has created a unique book weighing 1.8 pounds, which corresponds to the average weight of a premature baby. This work aims to raise awareness about the consequences of prematurity and attract donations to the foundation. The book is packaged in a protective shell reminiscent of the blanket in which newborns are usually wrapped, symbolizing the care and support for these babies.

The book’s design is carefully thought out, creating a unique reading experience. Inside, you will find illustrations that clearly show the development of the baby’s brain from 24 to 40 weeks of pregnancy. This project serves as a symbol of hope and support for many families facing difficulties. The book is not only informative but also inspiring, helping parents better understand the important stages of intrauterine development.

The book was originally scheduled for release on December 17, 2022, but was released a month early - on November 17, the day dedicated to International Prematurity Awareness. This decision highlights the importance of the topic and the desire to draw attention to the problems associated with premature birth. The change in the book's release date helps raise public awareness of the consequences of prematurity, as well as the support needed by families facing this issue.

My Mother, My Daughter: Art and Motherhood

The collection of interviews, "My Mother, My Daughter," is an in-depth exploration of the influence of motherhood on the creative process of female artists. This publication examines not only the difficulties of combining maternal responsibilities and professional work, but also the complex relationships between mothers and daughters, who are both immersed in the world of art. The book offers a unique perspective on how motherhood shapes creative paths and inspiration, and also touches on important aspects of artistic transmission.

A key element of the book's design is the perforated gold cover, embellished with blue thread. This original solution allows the reader to stitch the cover themselves, symbolizing the unique experience of motherhood. The sewing process serves as a metaphor for the complex interrelationships of parenthood, highlighting its impact on the freedom of both parties. This approach to design not only attracts attention but also creates a deep emotional connection with the book's content, reflecting the importance of individuality in the parenting experience.

Each interview in the book is accompanied by a patterned page that the reader can use to decorate the cover, making the publication unique. The book concludes with 32 full-color pages featuring the work of talented artists creating original visual images. These elements make the publication not only informative but also visually appealing, highlighting the individuality of each book and the talent of its authors.

Artist Zhanna Tyborowska made an unconventional choice, rejecting the traditional pink color symbolizing femininity. Instead, she chose a rich azure, which embodies the dynamism and multifaceted nature of motherhood. The text's design emphasizes that motherhood is not a static state, but a constantly evolving process, full of change and challenges. This approach allows for a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diversity of experiences associated with motherhood and conveys its complexity through a unique color palette.
