Storerooms, barns, and drying rooms were overflowing with canvas, cloth, dressed sheepskins, rawhide, dried fish, and a variety of vegetables.
N. V. Gogol is an outstanding Russian writer, author of the famous work "Dead Souls." This novel, written in 1842, became an important milestone in Russian literature and is a satirical study of 19th-century Russian reality. The plot centers on the main character, Chichikov, who travels across the country in order to acquire "dead souls"—deceased peasants who are still listed. Gogol masterfully depicts the bureaucracy, human vices, and social problems of his time. "Dead Souls" remains relevant today, raising questions about morality, corruption, and social order. This work continues to inspire readers and researchers, confirming Gogol's status as one of Russia's greatest literary figures.
The other day, I was explaining to my students again that a logo is expected, first and foremost, to meet basic requirements. A logo doesn't necessarily have to be perfect, but it should be high-quality and functional. I've also discussed this topic in my columns and would like to briefly recap the main points. A logo should be easily recognizable, align well with the brand and its identity, and be versatile enough to look great on a variety of media. Furthermore, it's important for the logo to be original and not evoke associations with competitors. A well-designed logo can significantly increase company recognition and create a positive image in the eyes of consumers.
- It's desirable for a logo to somehow reflect the essence of the business it represents. Or at least let it not contradict.
- It's good when a logo is easy to read in any size and context - the consumer doesn't like to make an effort, solving other people's riddles and breaking their tender eyes.
- It's convenient if the logo is easily identifiable: that is, it is unique and cannot be confused with any other.
- And it's even better if the logo is aesthetically pleasing.
Requirements and intentions in the world of design and branding are not impossible to fulfill. All these rules and wishes are formed within the framework of professional design and branding studios, where specialists are engaged in the creation of unique products. They work with drawings, develop patterns, manufacture and process materials, creating original solutions. However, outside these studios there is a vast market, which has its own specific demands and characteristics. Here, black can be perceived as white, ugly as beautiful, evil as good, and crooked as straight. The honest can be deceptive, and the significant, insignificant. It is important to consider these paradoxes to successfully adapt to changing market conditions and meet customer needs.

Arguing with the times is futile. Traditions and customs become true rulers in society, determining people's behavior and thinking. It is important to realize that resisting time is often ineffective. Instead of futilely resisting accepted norms, it's worth seeking ways to adapt and understand the surrounding reality. Custom, like a despot, shapes our perception of the world and influences the choices we make in life.
It turns out that the concept of beautiful nails is subjective, and everyone perceives it differently. Some people don't pay attention to the condition of their nails, even if they look black, crooked, or bitten. Meanwhile, others may have a gorgeous manicure, but this doesn't always reflect overall self-care. It's important to remember that well-groomed nails can be an important part of one's overall image and self-expression, and the choice of manicure style depends on individual preferences and characteristics.
I conducted a study on the logos of famous brands. The rankings compiled last year have their differences—the value of companies and their trademarks is assessed differently, which affects their positions in the lists. However, the brand names remain unchanged. Logo analysis not only reveals visual trends but also helps us understand how brands shape their identities and attract consumer attention.
It's interesting to explore how logo quality influences brand success and whether there are certain rules that can be identified among successful companies. Let's analyze the first ten to fifteen logos to understand the design elements and strategies used to achieve success.
Apple is a brand that has become synonymous with modern technology and innovation. Although the name is associated with fruit, it has nothing to do with it. People are accustomed to this image and rarely question why it's an apple and not another fruit, such as a watermelon or cantaloupe. The apple symbolizes simplicity and elegance, which perfectly reflects the company's philosophy.

Microsoft is a company that tries not to dissatisfy millions of users. This is a strategic approach that allows it to maintain customer loyalty and ensure stability in the technology market.

Amazon initially had a rather mediocre logo, and it has not changed much over time. Even the most sophisticated semantic explanations fail to improve the impression of it. The logo lacks originality and does not reflect the uniqueness of the company, which calls into question its effectiveness as a branding element.

Google is a brand that is described metaphorically quite clearly, although the visual elements may not always be successful. However, Google Doodles are a delight for users who visit the site not to search for information, but simply out of boredom. These unique graphic solutions not only entertain, but also inform about important events, anniversaries and achievements, making interaction with the brand more exciting.

Samsung in its current interpretation does not cause any irritation or joy and offers nothing new. Looking back at the first logo, which probably no one remembers, it was a celebration of hieroglyphic aesthetics and ignored the principles of Anglo-Saxon and Romano-Germanic logo design. Today, the company strives for universality, but this leads to a loss of the individuality and uniqueness that once distinguished it from its competitors.

Toyota is a brand with a bright and memorable logo, but its meaning remains dark and ambiguous. Some people interpret it as a disguised letter T, while for others it resembles a bull's head with horns. This design ambiguity emphasizes the strength and dynamism of the brand, making Toyota not only visually attractive, but also a symbol of power and confidence on the road.

Coca-Cola is the undisputed leader among popular drinks, with a historical significance and elegant design, which has become a true symbol. Unlike its eternal rival Pepsi, which constantly strives to change its image in accordance with fashion trends, Coca-Cola maintains its uniqueness and timelessness.

Mercedes embodies resilience and timelessness. It's a brand that combines classic design with a commitment to tradition. Every Mercedes car reflects high quality standards and innovative technologies, making it a symbol of reliability and luxury in the world of automotive manufacturing.

Disney is a name that has become synonymous with magic and animation. Walt Disney's signature, though transformed over time, retains its cartoonish, legible, and memorable nature. This writing style reflects the creativity and uniqueness of the company that has captured the hearts of millions of viewers worldwide. Disney continues to inspire and delight, remaining a symbol of high-quality entertainment and innovative ideas in the world of animation.

Nike is an iconic brand that has become a symbol of quality and style. The world-renowned swoosh logo embodies dynamism and innovation. Despite its affordable price point, the brand maintains its high value and reputation. Nike continues to attract attention for its ability to combine modern technology with classic design, making it the choice of athletes and active lifestyle enthusiasts.

Walmart is a perfect example of a successful business that demonstrates a high level of efficiency and quality. This approach to business can be applied to any industry, regardless of its specificity or scale. An effective strategy focused on the customer and streamlining processes enables significant results and strengthens market positions. The use of advanced technologies and management methods makes Walmart a role model for companies of all sizes. Every business can learn valuable lessons from Walmart's experience, adapting them to their own circumstances and goals.

Huawei is a brand that is not associated with fashion and sophistication. It clearly wasn't created in cultural centers like London or New York, and its origins are questionable. The company is trying to fit into the global tech industry, but often comes off as clumsy and awkward.

I analyzed more than a hundred logos from various ratings, and the results were quite interesting. Out of a hundred well-known brands, only about ten can be considered truly high-quality, another twenty demonstrate an acceptable level, but do not stand out. Approximately ten to twenty logos turned out to be mediocre, and ten to fifteen were completely unsuccessful. The remaining logos are practically indebted to discussion. However, all of these companies continue to operate successfully without problems with image or reputation. This demonstrates that creating the perfect logo is not a guarantee of business success. It is important to understand that successful companies can rely on other aspects besides visual identity to achieve high results. In the world of business, there are no universal formulas that guarantee success. It cannot be said that having an outstanding logo will automatically lead to a company's prosperity. Even with an unsuccessful logo, it is possible to create a successful brand, while an attractive logo does not always ensure long-term success. Sometimes companies risk focusing on visual aspects, forgetting about product quality and strategic development. It is important to understand that a successful business requires a holistic approach, where the logo is only one element influencing brand perception. The Porthos sling, like many things in this world, has its dual nature. It sparkles with gold embroidery on the outside, but is made of simple buffalo leather on the back. Porthos, being a boastful man, could not afford a completely gold baldric, so he chose a version decorated only on the front. This led to his fictitious cold and the need to wear a cloak.

These companies are known for their high-quality services and products, as well as effective marketing. Each of these brands has a unique strategy that allows them to attract and retain customers. For example, Chanel is renowned for its elegant design and exclusivity, while Starbucks focuses on creating a comfortable atmosphere for its customers. Accenture and UPS stand out for their innovations in technology and logistics. YouTube and Netflix have changed the way we consume media content, offering users a wide range of entertainment options. Target and Mastercard offer convenient shopping solutions, making them popular with consumers. These companies serve as role models of successful business management and can inspire other organizations to develop and implement effective strategies. Sinopec, Tmall, China Merchants Bank, and TSMC are leading players in their industries. Sinopec, one of the largest oil and gas companies in the world, is actively developing its technology and environmental initiatives. Tmall, an e-commerce platform, provides a wide selection of goods and services, meeting the needs of millions of consumers in China and abroad. China Merchants Bank, one of the country's largest banks, offers a variety of financial services, supporting small and medium businesses.
