For remote work

Over 16 years of work, I have managed to visit various projects. Some employers consider it essential that the employee be in the office. Others care about working well, no matter where. For me, I chose remote work. But before falling into the tempting trap of working from home, you need to evaluate the conditions.
I'm a mother. I have a daughter who goes to school. When I worked in an office, I had to get up four hours before work. Firstly, to get ready: get myself ready, cook for the family, have breakfast, and get ready for the workday. Secondly, to get my child ready and taken to school. Thirdly, the commute to the office took up time.
It was the same with the end of the workday. I had to get home, pick up my daughter from school, and cook dinner. That also took at least two hours.
Of course, in such conditions, remote work is more convenient. In the morning, I can devote time to my daughter, take her to school, and not spend more than an hour on it. And another beauty of remote work is that you can work when it’s convenient. If I’m lacking inspiration and can’t come up with brilliant ideas for advertising slogans, I grab my laptop and go to the gym. I’m always available, answering calls and messages, but I’m not working. If you don't have pressing deadlines, you can make up for it and get the task done even at night.
When I think back to those carefree times, the office comes to mind. I had fun chatting with colleagues, drinking ten cups of coffee a day, and gossiping during breaks. I realize I couldn't have worked remotely back then. Communication skills, work organization, and time management—the office provided all of that. Therefore, the work environment a specialist works in is crucial. Sometimes remote work is simply a necessary measure. And sometimes a person cannot work any other way.

This happens when an extrovert is cut off from communication with people. I really like the office because there I recharge with energy from my colleagues. But when the conditions change, the place of work changes too.
I am a mother of two small children. With the birth of my first child, I immediately had to forget about the office. Children need attention and mommy nearby. You can't just leave for work knowing that the baby is teething or has a tummy ache. In such situations, remote work is a great help. I didn't have to give up my favorite job because of maternity leave.
And yet, I hope to return to the office when the children go to school. I miss the hustle and bustle, communicating with different people, and the phrase "Good morning, colleagues."
For the office

I am 20 years old, I am a student. I am a third-year student studying to become an economist and manager at BNTU. I like the office because I am used to being present at my workplace. This habit was transferred from school to university. And from university to work. I cannot work from home peacefully - I cannot concentrate on tasks. After all, there's a TV with TV series, a refrigerator, and a beloved cat nearby.
And the beauty of an office is the atmosphere. Since school, I dreamed of working in a beautiful building, drinking lavender raf and chatting with colleagues. It all came true!
But I understand that the office suits me in specific conditions. It's possible that after a few years of work I will change my choice.

In my case, the opposite effect worked. After school and university, it seemed that going somewhere every morning was the same as studying. As soon as I imagined rushing to work day after day, I felt bad. I was surprised when I got stuck in the office routine.
Why did this happen 👇
Because studying and working are two different things. When you go to university, you think about boring subjects, stressful tests, and classes until the evening. When you go to the office, you know you'll be doing what you love all day.
I also like to separate spaces. Home is for relaxing, the office is for working. Because memes about remote work are no longer memes, but life. Often, the bed turns into a workplace. And meetings with colleagues in pajamas are commonplace. There is nothing wrong with this, but I don’t feel comfortable working like this.
Skillbox.by Editorial Opinion
You need to understand that the office and remote work are simply places for work. This can be compared to choosing equipment. For example, a tablet or a laptop. Choose a comfortable place to work, but first evaluate the conditions:
- Opportunity.Consider whether you can go to the office every day or, conversely, stay at home. Everyone's situations are different. For example, a young specialist may not be approved for remote work;
- Focus on tasks.You need to compare the office and remote work to understand where work is more productive. You can compare the number of completed tasks and the results per month, completed remotely and in the office;
- Desire.Rely on your comfort. If you don't like working in the office, try to come to a compromise with your employer. For example, switch to a hybrid. The same approach applies to remote work.
