Education experts are constantly researching and implementing new teaching methods. We've prepared a selection of five lectures that can inspire you to experiment with your own educational process. The lectures are presented in English, but are accompanied by Russian subtitles, making them accessible to a wide audience.

Children Teach Each Other Without a Teacher

In 1999, education researcher Sugata Mitra installed a computer in the wall of a house in the slums of Delhi, India. Children who had barely attended school, spoke no English, and had no idea about the internet began gathering around the computer. They mastered it on their own and began teaching their friends. After conducting many such experiments, Mitra became convinced that education is a natural process, and children can learn what interests them without adult intervention. This inspired him to create a school where students would teach each other, and a documentary was made about his project. In his TED talk, Mitra shares his vision for the future of education, emphasizing the importance of self-learning and interaction among children.

Comics Help Learn Information

Gene Luen Yang is a renowned American comic book artist who was fascinated by this unique art form from a young age. Today, he has become a recognized master, having received numerous prestigious cultural awards. In parallel with his career as a comic book artist, Young taught computer science at a school, which opened up new horizons for him. He decided to combine his teaching activities with comics and discovered that students learned information presented in comics significantly better than through traditional video lessons. In his lecture, Young shares research explaining this phenomenon and also discusses the reasons why, for over fifty years, skepticism towards the use of comics in the educational process existed in the United States.

Gamification is Changing Education

Businessman Seth Priebach believes gamification will have an impact on the world comparable to that of Facebook. In his lecture, he shares ideas on how gamification can increase motivation and improve the learning process. What is the dynamics of progress, and how does it affect the perception of success? How will the educational process change if traditional assessments are replaced with a system of "new levels", similar to computer games? What effect will renaming a gold medalist to a "level 20 white knight-paladin" have? Priebach offers answers to these questions, emphasizing the importance of gamification in modern teaching and motivation methods.

Virtual Reality for the Impossible

Jessica Ochoa Hendricks is a renowned education activist and the founder of Killer Snails, a startup that develops virtual reality games. Modern technology allows children who have never had the opportunity to see the ocean to dive to its bottom in a virtual spacesuit. This unique experience provides an opportunity to test the theories and hypotheses presented in textbooks in practice. In her TED talk, Hendricks shares ideas on how digital innovations can inspire schoolchildren to study science and significantly improve the effectiveness of the educational process. The introduction of such technologies into education opens new horizons for students and promotes the development of critical thinking and curiosity.
