2. Scheduled Messages and Silent Sending

If you realize at an unscheduled hour that you forgot to convey important information to your class or training participants and don’t want to disturb them with notifications, Telegram offers a convenient feature to help you. You can use the Scheduled Messages feature to send information at a more appropriate time. This will allow you to maintain peace of mind and avoid unnecessary disruption for participants, while ensuring prompt information.

Compose the message text and click the send icon using your finger on the screen of a mobile device or the mouse cursor if you are using Telegram on a computer. A small menu with several options will appear on the screen. Select "Send Silently" to send a message to a chat or a specific user without disturbing them with a sound notification or vibration. "Send Later" is also available, which allows you to set the date and time for sending the message. This is convenient for scheduling communications and time management.

3. Setting Reminders

To avoid missing important meetings, events, and other tasks, it is recommended to use a planner or calendar. However, it is also possible to create reminders in just a couple of clicks directly in the messenger. This is a convenient way to stay organized and not forget about planned tasks. Using messengers to create reminders allows you to save time and increase productivity.

To get started, you need to open the "Favorites" section. This section stores important messages from various chats and channels that you have decided to save. Essentially, "Favorites" is your personal chat, where you can collect relevant information and convenient links for quick access.

To open the "Favorites" section (Saved Messages in the English version), enter this word in the search bar. On iOS devices, you can tap the gear icon at the bottom of the screen, and on Android devices, you can tap the three lines in the upper corner to open the settings menu and find the item you need.

To set a reminder, open the "Favorites" section and enter your reminder text. Then, hold the send button, select "Set Reminder," and set the desired date and time. At the appointed time, you will receive a notification with your message.

4. Creating Folders

This feature will organize chats and channels, providing clear groupings. For example, a teacher who combines classroom management and tutoring can easily divide student contacts into appropriate groups. This simplifies interaction and allows you to quickly find the information you need, which is especially important in the educational process.

Tap "Create New Folder" and add the desired chats or chat categories, such as contacts, groups, channels, or bots. You can also customize the folder's contents by excluding certain chats or chat types from the folder. This will allow you to organize chats more efficiently and improve navigation through them.

5. Quickly Add GIFs and Videos

Enlivening a conversation with students or training participants has never been easier with the right GIF in Telegram. Animated images are especially appealing to children and teenagers, but can also be effective when communicating with older learners. Unlike face-to-face communication, it's more difficult to convey emotions like humor, irony, or friendliness in text messages. Without emojis and GIFs, even the most polite text can come across as dry and lacking in expressiveness. Using GIFs makes communication more lively and emotional, which promotes better comprehension and increased mutual understanding.

To find a suitable GIF while chatting, type @gif in the message bar, then add a space and enter your search query, preferably in English, for example: @gif hello. Then, select the desired GIF from the options offered. Please note that you can't attach a GIF to an existing message—the command only works on a new line, so start typing @gif immediately. This will allow you to quickly and easily add animations to your messages, making your conversations more lively and expressive.

The integrated search system allows you to add YouTube videos to the chat without having to leave the messenger. To do this, simply enter @youtube, followed by a space, and the video title. You can similarly share links to individual videos or YouTube channels. A "Subscribe" button will appear below the message, making it convenient for those who want to invite students to subscribe to their educational channel. This eliminates the need to search, copy, and paste links, making the process more efficient.

6. Adding timecodes to videos

When sharing a long video lecture or documentary with students, it's helpful to immediately point to a specific section that's relevant to the lesson topic or necessary for completing an assignment. This will help focus students' attention on key points and improve learning. Using timestamps or links to specific sections of the video will avoid wasted time and ensure more focused learning.

To share a specific moment in a video, copy its link and paste it into a new message. Indicate the start time of the desired episode using the format 00:00. After sending, the link will automatically become active and open the video from the specified minute and second.

Bonus: Exporting a Chat from WhatsApp

If you actively use WhatsApp and are considering switching to Telegram, but are worried about transferring a large amount of data, don't worry. Transferring important data from WhatsApp to Telegram is completely possible. You can save all the necessary chats, media files, and other information without losing anything important.

  • On an iOS device, open the page with the information about the desired contact or group in WhatsApp, tap "Export Chat" and select Telegram from the "Share" menu.
  • On Android, open the selected chat or group, tap the three dots at the top, then "More" and select "Export Chat". The "Share" menu will then appear, where you will need to select Telegram.

You can export the chat with or without all the downloaded media files. This will allow you to transfer the correspondence history to another messenger without losing data.
