In 2013, Japan Studio developed Playroom VR, a tech demo showcasing the capabilities of the new PlayStation camera and DualShock 4 controller. This game was the first to feature Astrobots—androids that live inside Sony consoles. These characters quickly gained popularity among players, leading to the creation of a standalone PlayStation VR game called Astro Bot Rescue Mission. In 2020, Japan Studio released Astro's Playroom, a free pre-installed game for PlayStation 5 that introduces users to the unique features of the new console and the DualSense gamepad. Astro's Playroom not only highlights the potential of the PlayStation 5 but also continues the tradition of engaging gameplay featuring the beloved Astro Bots, making it a must-have for all owners of the new console.

After 11 years of waiting, the Astro Bots have finally released their full-fledged game, priced at $60. Gaming journalists have praised the project, awarding it 10 out of 10. Many call this game one of the best platformers ever and predict it will be named Game of the Year at the upcoming Game Awards.

We have completed Astro Bot's 100% walkthrough and will now share our opinion on whether the game truly lives up to its high ratings. We will also discuss the shortcomings that fans often prefer to leave unmentioned.

The advantages of using the product include its high efficiency, ease of use, and accessibility. This product helps users achieve their goals faster and with less effort. It is also worth noting its versatility, which allows it to be used in a variety of areas. In addition, regular updates and support from the developers ensure stability and improved functionality. Thanks to these advantages, the product has earned the trust and popularity among users.

Astro Bot has excellent level design

The game's plot is simple and exciting: Astrobots are exploring space aboard a flying PlayStation 5 when they are unexpectedly attacked by evil aliens. The aliens destroy the console, kidnap all its inhabitants, and scatter the components across various corners of the galaxy. The main character, Astro, finds himself on a deserted planet with a PlayStation 5. He must return 300 of his friends, who are awaiting rescue on planets and asteroids in several star systems. The player must overcome numerous obstacles and solve puzzles to reassemble his comrades and restore the destroyed console. This captivating story combines adventure and platformer elements, making the game engaging and engaging for fans of the genre.

Astro embarks on a captivating journey. His route will take him through aquatic locations, desert settlements, icy expanses, clearings with robot bunnies, and cities with flying cars. Each of these unique locations will require exploration at least twice, as it's not always possible to discover all the hidden secrets and mysteries on the first try.

Astro Bot offers many secrets that make the game even more engaging. While exploring the world of Astro Bot, players can discover hidden levels and unique elements that aren't always obvious. It's important to pay attention to environmental details, as bonuses and additional tasks may be hidden within. Interacting with various objects can also lead to unexpected discoveries.

Players can also find special items that can help improve their character's abilities. Discovering these secrets not only adds interest to the game but also promotes deeper immersion. As a result, players can earn additional rewards and unique achievements, enhancing the overall Astro Bot experience.

In addition to the robots themselves, which are hidden in caves, secret passages, and thickets, you must collect puzzle pieces. These elements are important for customization: for example, collecting 50 pieces will unlock a building where you can customize the protagonist's suit. The game features numerous such items hidden in inconspicuous places, adding an element of exploration and excitement.

The game's levels feature portals to an alternate galaxy, home to unique worlds with interesting astrobots, such as the Hunter from Bloodborne and the Helghast from Killzone. Finding these portals is quite difficult. However, upon returning to a previously completed level, you can purchase a special bird for 200 coins, which will indicate the location of the entrance to another dimension. This will allow you to expand your capabilities and open new horizons in the gaming process.

The creators of the Astro Bot game made every effort to create unique levels. In one world, players encounter a talking tree, climb to its top, and battle three giant hatchlings. In Cream Canyon, gamers skate on ice and destroy ice sculptures with dynamite. The final level of the star system, Serpentine Path, immerses you in the world of the Uncharted action series, where you become Nathan Drake and explore ancient ruins hidden in the jungle. Such diverse gameplay makes Astro Bot engaging and memorable for players. The game amazes not only with the variety of levels but also with the unique abilities that the main character, Astro, gains. In each level, he has access to one of 11 amazing abilities, each distinguished by its originality and creativity. For example, with the Robobulldog attached to his back, Astro accelerates and delivers powerful blows. Additionally, transforming into a sponge allows him to absorb water and grow to gigantic proportions. Meanwhile, in the "Tiny Surprise" level, players can shrink down to the size of a mouse, opening up new ways to complete levels. These elements make the game engaging and varied, introducing elements of strategy and creativity.

Each location is designed to maximize your abilities to discover hidden passages and secrets. For example, the Robobulldog can destroy a seal on a cave wall, while a giant sponge can help you reach a pipe where you can shrink down, jump inside, and reach a secret location. These elements make the game more engaging and encourage exploration.

The game features 70 missions, each lasting between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the player's pace. This duration is optimal because the gameplay mechanics with various abilities remain interesting and do not cause boredom. The game constantly offers new challenges and elements, maintaining a high level of player engagement and activity.

The downsides of using a product or service can vary depending on the context. Users often encounter certain drawbacks that can affect their overall experience. These include high cost, limited functionality, technical issues, or insufficient support from the manufacturer. It is also worth considering that some products may not meet the user's expectations or requirements, which can lead to disappointment. It is important to carefully analyze all the downsides before making a purchase decision to avoid a negative experience and choose the best option.

Locations start to repeat towards the end of the game

The first three star systems stand out for their diversity and unique levels that are not found in other worlds. Each of them offers a unique experience. However, the final systems are significantly less diverse. Here we again encounter worlds with ghosts, monotonous deserts, space levels, and winter locations. Unfortunately, no new music was created for these locations, and players are forced to hear the same tracks over and over again. Not every game world needs to be completely unique, as that requires significant creative effort. However, by the end of the game, it feels like Astro is returning to familiar planets. Fatigue from repetitive locations can build up, especially if you're aiming for 100% completion. In this case, you'll have to repeatedly return to previously completed missions to discover remaining secrets. As a result, the familiar landscapes of yet another desert begin to irritate.

Advantages of using a product or service Benefits can significantly influence your purchasing decision. First and foremost, benefits ensure high quality and reliability, which makes a product or service more attractive to consumers. Additionally, positive aspects include ease of use, affordability, and time savings. Products with clear benefits often stand out from the competition, making them more noticeable in the market. It's also worth noting that the presence of such advantages can increase customer trust and improve brand reputation. Therefore, when choosing, it is important to consider positive characteristics that can significantly enhance your experience.

There are many pleasant references to Sony games

PlayStation fans will be pleasantly surprised by the variety of characters from the platform holder's 30-year history. The game features not only well-known heroes such as Aloy from Horizon and Kratos from God of War, but also lesser-known characters - for example, Jester from Rogue Galaxy, Spike from Ape Escape, and even a ship from Resogun. PlayStation 5 owners familiar with the brand's history are sure to feel nostalgic, while newcomers will have the opportunity to discover rare titles like Puppeteer and The Legend of Dragoon. This collection of characters highlights PlayStation's rich heritage and brings a unique atmosphere to the game that will attract both longtime fans and new players.

The once-famous fighting game PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale attempted to gather all the iconic PlayStation heroes in one place, but Astro Bot does so much more effectively, demonstrating the brand's greatness. Over the years, PlayStation consoles have built a vast library of games across various genres, from puzzlers to racing games. Unfortunately, today Sony seems to be focusing its efforts on creating cinematic third-person action games, neglecting many iconic franchises like Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, Siren, and Wipeout. The creators of Astro Bot remind players that PlayStation was once willing to experiment and invest in unique games aimed not only at a mass audience.

Cons are shortcomings or negative aspects of something. In various contexts, such as products, services, relationships, or situations, cons can significantly influence the overall perception. For example, when choosing a product, it is important to consider its cons along with its pros to make an informed choice. Cons can often be related to quality, price, or functionality. Proper analysis of cons allows consumers to avoid disappointment and better understand how well a product or service meets their expectations and needs.

Astro Bot is oversaturated with PlayStation advertising.

In each game mission, you will encounter recognizable symbols of the brand logo. Astro explores star systems using the DualSense controller, and upon landing, he's greeted by a massive PlayStation 5 that he must assemble piece by piece. The game also highlights the console's strengths, including its ultra-fast SSD and powerful processor, providing an immersive gaming experience.

Astro Bot's creators demonstrate an understanding of their brand's strengths, but this was better understood in the free-to-play Astro's Playroom, which can be completed in two hours. In the paid version, which costs $60, such a strong connection to the console feels out of place. Furthermore, such platform dependence could make Astro Bot look outdated in a few years when the PlayStation 6 hits the market.

Astro Bot currently resembles commercials from famous brands like Pepsiman and platformers themed around Ronald McDonald. This makes it less like classic platformers. Xbox and Nintendo haven't yet achieved the level of popularity that would compare to these games, and that can be considered a positive. This approach to game creation can attract a new audience and diversify the gaming experience.

A plus is a positive value or advantage that can denote benefit, success, or a positive quality. In various contexts, the concept of "plus" can be used to denote positive aspects, such as the advantages of a product, service, or solution. When analyzing pluses, it is important to consider how they influence the final outcome or choice. In business, for example, highlighting a product's advantages can help attract customers and improve sales. Optimizing content with pluses in mind allows you to effectively convey benefits and build brand trust, which is an important aspect of a successful SEO strategy.

It's a great platformer

Everything in the game functions perfectly: the controls are intuitive and comfortable, and the platforming elements go beyond simple leaps over chasms. Players are constantly presented with exciting challenges: quickly reach safety across a glass floor that crumbles at the slightest contact, or pour water on lava to harden it into stone. These varied obstacles make the gameplay dynamic and exciting, adding an element of strategy and planning.

Each enemy requires a unique approach. Some respond to simple attacks, while others are protected by electric fields, requiring the player to maneuver above their heads and use laser attacks. Against fire-breathing chameleons, slowing down time is an effective solution, as otherwise you risk taking damage. Strategy and tactics are key in combating a variety of enemies, making the gameplay more engaging and dynamic.

Astro Bot demonstrates his true nature in difficult challenges that can prove overwhelming even for seasoned platformers. One level took me nearly two hours to complete, and I felt my fingers go numb from fatigue. This game requires not only skill but also patience, making it a real challenge for the player.

The game's bosses are well-designed and present engaging puzzles. For example, in the battle with the giant Genie, players must dodge his attacks and wait for him to throw a golden lamp at them. By striking the lamp before impact, you can send it straight into the Genie's head, and you must do this three times. While the bosses don't pose any serious challenges, they add variety to the gameplay and a twist to the standard platforming, making the experience more engaging and exciting.

Cons are an important part of evaluating any product or service. They help consumers understand the drawbacks and risks associated with a choice. By analyzing the cons, you can make a more informed choice based on realistic expectations. Discussing the cons allows you to identify potential issues that users may encounter and take them into account when making a decision. It is important to remember that cons are not always critical, but their presence should be taken into account to fully understand the offer.

The game has little content.

It will take about ten hours to fully complete all the levels and challenges in the game. The levels have a simplified design, which makes them easy to complete. Don't expect any significant challenges while playing.

The game's short length is surprising, especially compared to the free-to-play Astro's Playroom and Super Mario Odyssey, one of the best 3D platformers to which Astro Bot is often compared. Astro's Playroom can be completed in just five hours, while Super Mario Odyssey's story campaign takes at least 12 hours, not including finding all the secret moons. Furthermore, Super Mario Odyssey offers a much wider variety of locations, which are not repeated, making the gameplay more engaging.

The quality of a game isn't determined by its length, but compared to other titles, Astro Bot feels short. Players don't have time to enjoy the game before the end credits roll. If the game were at least one-third longer and offered a greater variety of levels, it would certainly be less of a draw. Content variety and playtime play a significant role in the overall experience, and attention to these aspects is crucial to improving the Astro Bot experience.

So does the game deserve such high ratings?

Despite its shortcomings, which, of course, were also present in Super Mario Odyssey, many players are willing to overlook them. This is because Astro Bot was created with great love for its audience and respect for the legacy of the PlayStation brand. Every element of the game is thought out to ensure maximum enjoyment from the very first minutes, and you won't even notice how quickly time flies with the exciting gameplay. Astro Bot offers a unique experience that attracts attention and makes you come back again and again.

A sequel is definitely coming – this was hinted at in the credits. In the next part, the creators should take into account the criticism to create the perfect platformer. There are few shortcomings, so the likelihood that the developers will be able to fix everything is very high.
