But Kung Lao, inspired by the spirit of his ancestors, decided to revive it and begin training a new generation of warriors to restore justice and revive the traditions of Shaolin. Kung Lao always dreamed of a peaceful life, but circumstances constantly interfered with his plans. After Liu Kang was killed by Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, he again took up his quest for vengeance but was killed. Later, the Dragon King Onaga resurrected him as a zombie. Ultimately, Liu Kang frees his friend's soul, but this causes events to reset.
