According to a study by FinalRoundAI, in the first half of 2025, leading IT corporations in the United States cut 94 thousand jobs. Among the companies that made the largest number of layoffs were Microsoft, IBM, Intel and Google.
Some employees were laid off because artificial intelligence began to perform their duties more quickly and cost-effectively. Other workers were laid off in order to free up funds for further investment in the development of artificial intelligence technologies. Here are the categories of employees that were first on the list of layoffs of tech giants:
