From 1999 to 2016, I lived and worked in Canada, where I worked in project management for a consulting company. My responsibilities included managing a small team of five and developing software, including mobile and web applications, to automate business processes for small and medium-sized enterprises. Upon returning to Russia, I took the position of Product Manager at Leroy Merlin, and I currently hold the position of Head of Product at Severstal. My experience in project management and software development allows me to successfully implement effective solutions to optimize business processes.

You recently took up the position of Product Manager at Severstal. What are your key challenges, and what products are you developing?
I lead a department at a Severstal subsidiary known as Metal Processing Hub. It's a B2B marketplace that connects customers and suppliers in the metalworking industry. On our platform, customers can place orders for both the full production cycle and specific services, such as machining, welding, and assembly. Suppliers are companies that offer custom metalworking services. Metal Processing Hub ensures effective interaction between participants, simplifying the process of searching and selecting performers, which makes it a reliable tool for optimizing production processes in the industry.

As Head of Product, I am responsible for the development of all digital products on our platform. Our primary goal is to create valuable, useful, and convenient solutions for our clients. We are in the early stages of developing a fully-fledged platform and are confidently moving forward, striving to improve the user experience and maximize customer satisfaction. Our team is actively working to implement innovative features and optimize existing processes to ensure the high quality and competitiveness of our products in the market.
When developing processes, is there a company you consider a role model?
We analyze similar products in Europe and America, borrowing the best ideas for our market. However, the target audiences and segments differ. In Russia, we are the first in this space, as the development of B2B marketplaces lags several years behind B2C segments such as Yandex.Taxi and Delivery Club. This creates unique opportunities for growth and innovative B2B solutions.

Previously, projects took three to four years, and the development process proceeded without feedback. If the developer misinterpreted the task, this meant they worked for the entire project based on a distorted understanding of the final product. As a result, the final result failed to meet the client's expectations, leading to a loss of time and resources. The importance of timely feedback during the development process cannot be underestimated, as it allows for course correction and more precise alignment with client requirements. Modern development approaches, such as Agile and Scrum, emphasize continuous communication and adaptation, significantly increasing the likelihood of project success.

I am an amateur runner, and I can say that physical activity is good for everyone. It helps you overcome your limitations and go beyond your usual limits. When I was training for amateur races, I learned perseverance and discipline. In 2017, when I just started running more than five kilometers, a half marathon seemed unattainable to me. However, after just three months of dedicated training, I finished my first half marathon in 2 hours 7 minutes. This experience was not only a physical achievement for me but also an important step in developing my personal strength and self-confidence. Running not only improves physical fitness but also promotes mental well-being, making it a great way to manage stress and improve overall well-being.
